Miss M Posted August 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Hi, If you are given on board credit and don't spend it all, are you given it back in cash? I imagine that the answer is 'no' but thought I would ask? Thanks Miss M
MADflyer Posted August 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2013 You are correct to assume no for all promotional OBC. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentWithHero.do?pagename=onboard_credits

linkerbink Posted August 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Does that include OBC from purchase of a Next Cruise Certificate? The info on the link isn't really clear about what constitutes "promotional" OBC.
wah20 Posted August 19, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2013 My experience is any credit given by the cruise line is not refunded if unused. My experience and understanding is that if you get credit from a TA, that is refundable. If you have both credits from the cruise line and a TA, the cruise line credit is used first. I've gotten refunds to my credit card for less than $1 on past cruises. That's when I decided to test it and it worked. I got over $100 for unused obc. My last trip on the Majesty, I went on the cash payment line the last morning of the trip and got a refund in cash. Remember, this is after I used the amount given by the cruise line and had more given by my TA.
Sherri914 Posted August 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2013 My question is two-fold. First question: I asked this somewhere before but for the life of me I cannot find the thread now. Here's the question.... If by some chance I have leftover OBC (and all my OBC is coming from RC Visa rewards for this cruise), how is it disbursed? If I remember correctly, the answer was that it is returned to the / a credit card. We no longer use that particular RC Visa card, so we will be using a different card for our Sea Pass account upon boarding. If we have leftover OBC, would they reimburse our RC Visa (I hope not) or the card we attach to our Sea Pass? Second question: I saw on another OBC thread recently that OBC appears on the SECOND night of your cruise. Has anyone else found this to be the case? You can go to Guest Services the day prior to debarkation and withdraw all of your refundable OBC. If you do not want cash back, then it will be credited back to the credit card used at check in. Any OBC appears by the second day of your cruise. This is because all information received from Miami must be verified before it is applied to any account. molly361 Posted August 19, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Non refundable OBC is used first (credit given by RCL, WOW sale, onboard booking bonus) the refundable credit is used (credit from a TA , or from B of A Visa awards) is used. You can get any unused OBC on the last day of the cruise as Guest Services, usually in the afternoon or it will be refunded to whatever CC you use at check in. Edit I was typing slower than Patti!!! :):)

I just couldn't find the old thread. Okay. Well good then. I'm squared away. And thanks for clearing up the confusion on the OBC appearing on the second day of the cruise. I suppose it doesn't matter when it appears - as long as it DOES appear! :) Thanks again for the info.
TBone2K Posted August 19, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Unused OBC can also be withdrawn in cash at the casino, but they charge you 3%, I believe.
cruisenfever Posted August 19, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Unused OBC can also be withdrawn in cash at the casino, but they charge you 3%, I believe. But if it is refundable, why go to the Casino and have to pay 3%? You can just go to Guest Services and either get cash back or let it go back on to your credit card as a credit. I have been know to do this because sometimes the lines at GS on the last day are very long. The amount we usually have left (if any:D) is not that much so I am okay with paying the 3%
Getting out there Posted August 19, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2013 I recently called RC Reward center and had points totalling $150 applied to my OBC. I was told if I didn't use it, it was not refundable. Maybe it's different if done by another card. I also went on website posted and read that OBC can't be combined with other promotions. I have $50 OBC from the WOW sale. Will I have both OBC or will I lose one? Which one?
molly361 Posted August 19, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 19, 2013 The $50 from the WOW sale is use it or lose it. If you are talking about OBC from the RCL B of A Visa card that is refundable if you do not use it.
Getting out there Posted August 19, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2013 I was told and had to confirm that I understood that the points could not be refunded to my RC Visa. That I understood to mean that any money not used cannot be refunded.

If you use a RCL B of A card at check in and the credit goes back on that card double points will be deducted just like double points are given for RCL purchases
