sjde Posted August 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2013 When we were in Barcelona we didn't include the cost for breakfast in our hotel stay. Our hotel was close to the main square which connects La Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia yet we found almost nothing open! We'll be back in November. Any suggestions? sjde Posted August 19, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted August 19, 2013 The square was Placa de Catalunya.
pollux Posted August 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Walk from Plaza Catalunya to the Ramblas stay on the right side. The large central food market is about 5 min walk. There you can have fresh coffee and great chocolate crossants.(sp) There are more things to eat and a great place to visit. Its open very early like 6am. CasaM Posted August 19, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2013 You can get breakfast at the restaurant on the top floor of El Cortes Inglesas, the big dept store right on Placa Catalunya when they are open, which might not be until 9 or 10am. We pop in there to eat frequently.
calliopecruiser Posted August 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Walk down La Ramblas to the Boqueria market - there are several small restaurants (more like cafe's, with counter service) that serve good food and are popular breakfast stops. I ate breakfast there several times during my stay in Barcelona.
mskaufman Posted August 20, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2013 You can always get some fruit and juice from a stand at La Boqueria http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff386/mmkbx75/IMG_0897_zpsa94f3a35.jpg
quercus alba Posted August 20, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2013 We found several bakery/deli options within a block or 2 of the cathedral plaza in the Gothic quarter. You shouldn't have to walk too far. And there's always Starbucks... :o
