Whitnee1 Posted August 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Am thinking of taking an aft balcony cabin on deck 7 or 8 and need help. From pictures it appears that the structure of the ship extends beyond and above the balcony. If this is true does it obstruct the view from the balcony? The cabins are adjacent to the JS's and are not the end ones.

Go for it.
Whitnee1 Posted August 23, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted August 23, 2013 How obstructed is it? Is deck 8 better than 7?
Merion_Mom Posted August 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2013 How obstructed is it? Is deck 8 better than 7? Yes, for non-corner E1 cabins. The higher you go, the less the obstruction is.
DonnaK Posted August 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2013 We didn't care for the view due to the obstruction (we were in 1388 and 1390). In our opinion, it felt like we were overlooking a construction zone. It was quite disappointing.
Clarea Posted August 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2013 You also cannot look directly down to the water, as the staterooms are set back from the edge of the ship. However, the balconies are much larger than other balconies in the same stateroom class.
crookedhalo Posted August 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2013 I have had 7688 and 9690 on Voyager class ships. I purposely avoided the corner on deck 8 because it has a door (partial glass) rather than a sliding glass door - pics make room seem very dark:(. You can go to voyager-class.com and see a good range of pics. I love the corners because of the range of view you get - the 'obstruction' actually seems to disappear over time, so I don't even consider it a factor in my choice. It is a pretty long walk back to the aft, but it is also very quiet back there;). Here are some pics from deck 7 aft corner and deck 9 aft corner. The first two are from Explorer #7688 and the second two are from Adventure #9690
