6travelers Posted August 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Ok, received a call from Princess asking us to exchange our two Emerald deck mini suites for the two Owner's Suites on our upcoming Emerald cruise. I went back and forth for a few hours and then accepted. We have five of us traveling so are excited for the extra room. We had really looked forward to those Emerald deck mini suites. Have only had regular balcony cabins on our previous cruises. But how could we refuse? Right?? I am torn between second guessing and excitement. :D Forgot to add this was an even exchange, no extra cost to us!

The Owner's Suites on the Emerald (and her sisters the Crown and Ruby) are wonderful. They are much larger even than other suites on the ship with huge balconies. We have had parties with close to 30 people and had plenty of room. Enjoy! As some one else said, be sure to have breakfast in Sabatinis.
6travelers Posted August 23, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted August 23, 2013 You are all so nice to fuel my excitement. Didn't even know about breakfast in Sabatinis. Will surely look forward to the giant balcony. I better do some research. Our cruise is next week!:)

lor74 Posted August 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2013 WOW, that's awsome! Why would you have even considered not taking the upgrade if it was free? Enjoy Sabatini's for breakfast...a great way to start the day! Congrats :)
IdahoCruises Posted August 23, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Free breakfast at Sabatinis each day, mini bar set up, and many other suite perks. You're gonna love this cruise and upgrade!
TVanTuyl Posted August 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2013 I'm always curious why people hesitate to accept upgrades (unless they have a specific cabin they prefer for some reason).
cubfan63 Posted August 23, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Note to the OP: Don't forget everyone booked in the suite gets dinner the first night in either the Crown Grill or Sabatini's as one of your full suite benefits as well. I'm sure you will have an amazing cruise!
Pam in CA Posted August 23, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2013 I'm always curious why people hesitate to accept upgrades (unless they have a specific cabin they prefer for some reason).Easy to answer that question: what Princess considers an upgrade isn't necessarily one you'd like. You could have booked a Caribe balcony towards the aft and Princess could upgrade you to an Aloha deck balcony mid-ship. It's perceived that mid-ship is better but for many, that's not the case as they prefer the much larger balcony on Caribe. It's perceived by Princess that a Dolphin deck mini-suite is better than an Emerald deck mini yet many prefer a private covered balcony over the exposed balcony. Not everyone likes to be in the sun and many people can't be exposed to sun.

SadieN Posted August 23, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 23, 2013 We just declined an upgrade. While waiting on hold with Princess to decline the offer we noticed that our original cabin was available to be booked. We were on the phone within a few hours of receiving the email. What would have happened if our original cabin was booked?

While waiting on hold with Princess to decline the offer we noticed that our original cabin was available to be booked. We were on the phone within a few hours of receiving the email. What would have happened if our original cabin was booked? Either a) Too bad and you must have a different cabin or b) They upgrade the new person in your cabin and give it back to you
gooch47 Posted August 23, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Please excuse my ignorance, especially considering how many Princess cruises we have under our belts, but what exactly is an "owners" suite?
Tak8 Posted August 23, 2013 #20 Share Posted August 23, 2013 Congrats on the upgrade. Sabatini's is a great way to start the day and I really enjoyed the free thermal suite and laundry.

gooch47 Posted August 23, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 23, 2013 OK, then. It is the same suite we've had a couple of times. I just wasn't aware they called it the owner's suite. Are there any suites (other than the family suites) bigger than B750 anywhere.
IdahoCruises Posted August 23, 2013 #25 Share Posted August 23, 2013 There are the Grand Suites on (I think) all Princess ships. They are larger and more beautiful than the OS. I have found that trying to book a Grand Suite can be daunting since they are some of the suites that go fast - my TA said we would have to book 12 months in advance to even hope to get one....Hope that helps....thanks
