Crown Grill vs. Sabatini's do you have a favorite?

I'm curious as to whether you have a favorite between Sabatini's and Crown Grill. I know they vary. I've found that on some ships one is better than the other and not always the same one. I wonder if you have an overall preference.

I have never been to Sabatini's, as the menu does not appeal to me. We always go to the CG at least once on a cruise. In general we love eating there, but the experience does differ from one ship to another.

We love the Crown Grill but it is sooooo much food that we can't handle it more than once per cruise. Well OK we did go there twice on our last cruise but that was only because we had two separate sets of friends on board who wanted to go and we had a lot of OBC we needed to burn.

On the Golden, the service was amazing.

I've also been to both and also prefer the Crown Grill. It just seemed to be a more luxurious atmosphere. Of course we preferred the food there better than Sabatinis.

If one could combine the Proscuitto, olives, appetizers and Pasta of the Day from Sabatini's with the entrees and desserts at Crown Grill,.....well....you'd pretty much have perfection. With the exception of Sabatini's Veal Chop, we prefer the Mains and Desserts of Crown Grill to those of Sabatini's, but prefer the first half of the meal as done the way Sabatini's does it. And either of these is better (to us) than Bayou or Sterling. We are not big "steak" eaters, so a menu that is "steak-centric" is not to our liking.

I love them both. IMO, if you like a good steak house more than a good Italian Restaurant than the Crown Grill is better (or vice versa). For me, I like both. I think the atmosphere is great in both. They certainly differ but are both beautiful. One is very "clubby" and the other has a European elegance. I agree that the Veal Chop in Sabatini's is excellent. :D

We've enjoyed both however if only going to one it would be the Crown Grill because we prefer the CG entree options more than at Sabatini's. In the CG my wife enjoys mussels & lobster entrees so she skips 1st courses & makes the mussels her appetizer.

They're just different...a steak & seafood or an Italian dinner with great service at both of them. :)

Crown Grill! But we also truly enjoyed Sabatini's when we were in a suite for breakfast!

I really like the old format of Sabatini's, not such a fan of the new menu. This time (in 3 weeks, but who's counting) I might just make a meal of the appetizers from Sabatini's vs the entrees. Love the Crown Grill but unfortunately we have the Bayou restaurant on this cruise.

Even under the old menu at Sabatinis we never got the "Sabatinis Experience" we only ordered what we wanted. With the new menu I would have to say I prefer Sabatinis over the Crown Grill. We eat almost every night at one or the other since we're not fans of the MDR. Given that we have found it much easier to get an off menu item prepared for us in Sabatinis with the right chef and advanced notice, that would be our preferred venue. Both are very good. As time has passed we have eaten fewer and fewer meals in the dining rooms. Somehow the menus have not been particularly appealing. Last summer on the Crown with our daughter we had overall some very good food even in the dining room. However, the Beef Wellington was one of the worst entrees I've had the misfortune to taste. I know this is all subjective, but there you have it, my opinion

I'm a Sabatini's fan since they changed the menu. We've only eaten at Crown Grill on Star, and I just didn't get what the fuss was all about. The steaks were ok, the sides were ordinary and the service was just ok. And offering the salts after the meat is cooked makes no sense to me - let me choose before, salt my steak and let it season as it cooks. Just sayin'...

I've loved every meal but one unfortunate sea bass at Sabatini's.

My curiosity got the best of me. Does your screen name have anything to do with your having sailed on the "Sun Viking"? I sailed on it years ago.
