repositioning cruise

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

DH and I are thinking of taking a repositioning cruise and wondered if there were any pros or cons of going from Vancouver to Florida (probably in the fall) or going the other way in the spring?

Going east to west (FL to Vanc) you'll gain time. Going west to eat (Van to FL) you lose time. I believe that would be 3 (maybe 4) time changes.

We did the PC in May. Had great weather.

For us, doing it in April, is an escape from the cold weather. Since September is a lovely month here we don't feel the need to escape then.

We are booked to repeat the Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver repo cruise next April. We enjoyed it so much that once was not enough.

The Panama Canal full transit repositioning cruises are great. We have done several and have two more booked. I think either way if fine. There may be different ports so I would choose based on that. Or weather where you live.

I'd do the East-to-West in the Spring. You gain time instead of losing it and avoid any possible hurricane season issues on the Florida side.

A major difference, if it is important to you, is that the east to west cruises don't seem to stop in Panama at all, while the west to east transits all a full day, docking at Fort Amador.
