Southampton - someplace to leave luggage?

NJ&Ozzie

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My husband & I arriving in Southampton on Nov. 4th at approx. 9:00 a.m. or so.

Is there anywhere to leave our luggage for a couple of hours while we pick up some things before our cruise that day.

Trying to avoid dragging bags around. Don't think RC will allow us to board till closer to noon.

Thanks!

Nancy Jo (NJ) :)

Hi Nancy Jo,

Two prospects:

The Grand Harbour Hotel is an easy level ten minute walk from City cruise terminal (RCI's usual berth), or a £5 taxi ride from any other cruise terminal. And an easy level 10 mins from the Nat Express coach station or 15 mins from the rail station. Or again, a £5 taxi ride.

Under De Vere management the hotel stored bags for non-residents for £5 per bag.

But the hotel was sold by De Vere earlier this year, so you'd need to e-mail them to check that the service is still offered. (Be grateful if you'd let me know the outcome)

E-mail address on their website

Or

http://www.oceans-southampton.com/

is a fairly new enterprise, a cruiser/llner-orientated tearoom & souvenir shop in High Street, stores at £5 per case, £3 hand-baggage.

About a £5-£7 taxi ride from rail station, coach station, or any cruise terminal.

Both are convenient for the old-town sights, the big West Quay mall, & the pedestrianized main shopping street called Above Bar.

The little sketch at the bottom of this page

http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/southampton_accommodation.htm

shows the general city centre/docks layout - Oceans is between yellow D & blue 7.

About 11.30 is the earliest to register at RCI, though it might be possible to drop bags earlier. If you have a private transfer it might be worth calling at the terminal first.

JB :)
