Clarea Posted August 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2013 Has anyone used a CPAP machine on Serenade of the Sea? If so, anything I need to know (extension cord etc.)? If you contact the Special Needs department (special_needs@rccl.com) ahead of time, they will provide an extension cord and distilled water. markeb Posted August 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2013 There's an online form you can fill out here... https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/allaboutcruising/guestSpecialNeeds.do That will take you to the Special Needs page. It's not intuitive to find the information, but it's available. If you search the forum for "CPAP", you'll find plenty of hits... I'm lucky in that I tend to relax and sleep well onboard, and haven't carried mine.
Florida Fan Posted August 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2013 My husband uses a CPAP. I think we contacted Special Needs beforehand once or twice, and the water and extension cord were there when we arrived. We also have waited until boarding and asked the room attendant for the cord. When we did that, we had no problem getting what we needed, but there was sometimes a few hours delay because of the attendant was busy with boarding. We've sailed many times and never had a problem. hawlcruiser Posted August 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2013 No problem. We ask before boarding and water and extension are in cabin. Guess this is a very common request now.

shopper77 Posted August 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2013 My husband uses a cpap machine, and we always do a request beforehand. On most of our cruises the water and extension cord are in our cabin. But both times on the Senerade he had to go to guest services for the extension cord and the charged him a $25.00 holding fee. It was credited back to our account at the end of the trip, but the guest service were so long on the day before we had to get off. Because of that he could not use it on the last night. They were aware of us coming, since they had the water in the cabin.
carumba7 Posted August 26, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2013 Just off Serenade last month as well. We had the distilled water waiting in our Suite but had to go to Guest Relations to get the extension cords as well as signing for the $25.00 fee for each of them. Having to stand in line the morning of debarkation wasn't a lot of fun but since we were one of the last off the ship it only took about 10 minutes. Worth the extra night of good sleep! Ba' Datz Posted August 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2013 How far is the bed from the outlets? My CPAP has a rather long cord. I am in a G large ocean view. cabin

CRUZBUDS Posted August 26, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 26, 2013 I always carry my own extension cord - it think it's 10 feet and with the length of the machine's cord, it is always plenty long enough. I've never had an issue on any of the lines we sail. I don't use a humidifier.
carumba7 Posted August 26, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 26, 2013 We didn't bring our own because we had read that they had started confiscating them because of the possibility of fire hazard. They would then return it to you and the end of the voyage. We didn't need them for the hotels before and after so it was one less thing to pack! Trainman-2 Posted August 26, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 26, 2013 I carry a 25" extension cord in my CPAP Case and it has never been questioned. Check with your Cabin Attendant, he knows where all of the plugs are and there is often one behind the bed that nobody knows about. I don't use a humidifier so I don't have to worry about distilled water.

Just took extension with CPAP machine on Freedom with no problem. My husband now has a machine that doesn't use water so much easier to travel with it.Dr. said he didn't need water if he didn't get a dry mouth.
