dry dock

Ship dry dock periods are usually scheduled years in advance - unless some serious problem requires an emergency dry docking as with the Celebrity Millennium. You'll see a gap in the schedule. Days in dry dock are kept to an absolute minimum because a ship that isn't moving isn't making money.
