BillC Posted August 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2013 After some concern we attended our first Azamazing event. It was FANTASTIC! Over 80% of the passengers attended (560 people in 15 buses) at a beautiful winery. The logistics were well planned and executed. Azamara even got local police assigned to each major intersection to help the buses move swiftly. The venue was great and after a winery tour we entered a vast courtyard as big as several football fields with tables already set with various wines, a concert stage, 4 video cameras and a giant screen, and tables for 10, but only with 6 seats to limit having to turn chairs to see the stage. The tables were assigned by bus number. The performances lasted about an hour and a half with an intermission for snacks and more wines. They even had portables restrooms on flatbed trailers brought in for the event. The various acts were all wonderful but the second half featured the Ukranian Black Sea Navy band, chorale and dancers. They were fantastic nd brought the evening to a great finale. Kudos to the officers and crew for such a memorable experience!
Rare uktog Posted August 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Thank you so much for posting your experience at the Azamazing Evening. It sounds like when they get them right they get them 100% spot on. I am sure the rest will sort themselves out in time. Was your evening one the ship had run before? That might be another clue to why it went so well, but delighted you had such a good evening and thanks for being so open in the light of your initial misgivings. Hope the rest of the cruise was as good
CintiPam Posted August 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2013 I really appreciate your posting about your positive AzAmazing experience. We are taking our second Azamara cruise in three weeks, and your review just whets our appetite for this upcoming event, which will take place at our first port stop after leaving Venice: Hvar Island near Split in Croatia. It must take an enormous amount of logistical work to arrange for these events, and I hope that the experiences just get better and better for guests as they continue to occur. Bill Leiber Posted August 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2013 After some concern we attended our first Azamazing event. It was FANTASTIC! Over 80% of the passengers attended (560 people in 15 buses) at a beautiful winery. Hello BillC - Thank you very much for your detailed feedback highlighting the attention to operation detail that made the AzAmazing Evening in Yalta, Ukraine a "memorable experience." I want to let you and "Uktog" know that this Massandra evening had not been operated before - it was a premier performance. The concern for the evening's operation was the successful execution of the components (or "ingredients") that would comprise the event - wine, food, three different sets of performers, a tour of the winery. Would it be too long, would guests get bored, would the food be ok, would the logistics work, etc. As you and others may know from other AzAmazing Evening threads, I've been reporting that each of our 2014 AzAmazing Evenings events are being reviewed for content to ensure a greater likelihood for a successful evening experience that delivers on its promise. I will be addressing that topic on a separate thread either today or Friday. In the meantime, For other readers of this thread, there are some wonderful photos on our Facebook page highlighting guests enjoying Ukrainian wines, cuisine, music and dance. https://www.facebook.com/AzamaraClubCruises (scroll down a bit.) BillC, thanks again for your time, effort and support! crzrr Posted August 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Thanks BillC for posting. I have great faith in Azamara's ability to get it right and it sounds as though they did in this instance. Hopefully, as they review for next year, they will be able to tweak the ones that weren't quite there yet and make them as unforgettable as yours! nonrev1 Posted August 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2013 We were at the event and will definitely second Bill C's opinion. What a fantastic evening. After reading earlier reviews and having a long day of touring planned, we had mixed feelings about attending the event. We were so glad that we went. After the winery tour and then stepping into the enormous courtyard, it was definitely a wow moment! Not only was this a first for Azamara at this location......it was also a first for the winery. They had never staged an event this large. So, Kudos to Azamara for a great evening. We are looking forward to more in the future.
