Where to buy Wine in Ketchikan

We would like to buy wine if it less expensive than what the ship offers....anyone can tell me where we can buy some? Willing to pay corkage.

Usually, for the wine you are allowed to bring on board, it's at the port of embarkation. Everywhere else after that, when you board, it will be taken and stored and given back to you at the end of the cruise.

And, Princess states one bottle per adult per voyage, but, if you want to bring extra onboard after that, but, it's $15 a bottle, corkage fee after that.

In regards to wine in Ketchikan, I googled, which came across a posting on Cruisecritics, that stated, There is a great wine store in Ketchikan called Wines International and they are located in Salmon Landing which is about 7 or 8 blocks from dock #4 that Princess uses but is right downtown. They are what I would describe and medium to medium high in product line but I have never looked at their pricing.

So, according, to what you like, you may want to check out the prices on Coral, and, then hit the place in Ketchikan, but, add that $15 a bottle, to, see if you'll really be saving anything.

Wouldn't the corkage fee only apply if you brought the bottle to the dining room and had your waiter uncork it? Seems like most that would bring wine on board would just open it in their cabin...Cheers :)

We've purchased from Wines International on both our Alaska trips. For the most recent we purchased a couple magnums. We were charged the standard corkage fee ($15) for bringing the bottle in to the dining room, but as the bottle is equivalent to 2 standard bottles, we felt we got a really great deal. Of course, had we kept the bottle in our room we wouldn't have paid any corkage.

Princess has changed their policy in the past year. You can still bring on one bottle per adult, free of charge. If you bring it to the dining room, then you do incur the corkage fee.

Any bottles beyond the one per person incur the $15 fee REGARDLESS of where you drink it. Your bottles are counted and charged accordingly at embarkation.

That's what I was going to post too, as, it is what I read last night on Princess' website under their alcohol policy! Over 2 bottles, $15 per bottle corkage fee no matter where it is consumed.

I will tell you my recent Alaska experience on Princess (this month) they did not question what room I was in or document the number of wine bottles brought on in port. Guess it depends on the ship and sailing. I know that we could easily have brought on more wine in another port as there was no documentation of the wine we'd brought onboard in Ketchikan.

I didn't bring any on in port, only at embarkation in Seattle. It sounds like they are only enforcing the policy at embarkation at this point, but they might eventually expand that to other ports. The whole process is new and I think they are still working out the bugs.
