msclover Posted August 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Is ship or local time followed on MSC cruises? Always local time! You receive the time change alert on your daily program one day before and on the time change day you receive a reminder! We never had problems with time changes on MSC :)

On OPERA sailing from Southampton to Holland (GMT + 1), Guernsey (GMT), Spain (GMT + 1) Portugal (GMT) and France (GMT + 1). The time used was always "Ship's Time" which was set as GMT + 1, as there would be at least one if not two time changes a day. Pete

I said always cause in my South America and Mediterranean cruises with MSC it was always local time.. I guess it was because my time changes were always between days and not hours ;) Thank you for your info Skier52!

Norwegian Cruiser 73 Posted August 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2013 On my recent cruise on the MSC Poesia in the Baltic Sea they allways followed the local time. Time change was stated in the Daily Program in addition to a special message leaved on the bed the night before the time change.
Skipper Tim Posted September 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2013 On a repo cruise which involves around a week at sea, the concept of local time becomes fairly arbitrary and time changes are usually spread out for the convenience of guests rather than strictly observing time-zone barriers in the sea. Once you get to land, then it is all political rather than anything to do with the rotation of the planet. Now one practical aspect of time changes onboard is the fact that you find out about them after a night of indulgence via the daily programme etc. waiting in your cabin as you return. The following morning, how do you know whether you already moved your watch forward/backwards? Our friend Angela had a system of writing a note to herself that she had done so. Which works if you make a note. If there is no note, then there is still uncertainty :).
