Thinking of trying Celebrity. What is their policy regarding e-cigarettes?

TIA

Celebrity's official policy is that e cigarettes are treated the same as other smoking materials.

Q: What is the onboard smoking policy?A: For your comfort and enjoyment, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda. If you are in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to your SeaPass® account and you may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises Cruisetour products. We appreciate your understanding and adherence.

I can see why they are not allowed. Someone would be smoking a real cigerette and then also have an electronic one. When approached they would present the electronic one and claim that is what they were smoking. I have seen it done in stores and restuarants. The odor from the real one gives it away but the smokers will hide the real one while doing that.

So the only sure way is to not allow any.

The problem is that from far away many of the e-cigs will look like a real cig and can cause issue with other passengers so if you keep them to the smoking areas you can mitigate that. You also need to use your common sense and not use it where people are eating.

Really, if you don't make a big show of it, no one is going to know if you are using an e-cig in your room since there is no smell and no flame the same as no one will know if you're drinking smuggled liquor there.
