Baby 4 days too young

What bothers me is some people's unwillingness to abide by a policy. If they're going to make an exception for every rule/policy, why even have it? Joe B has a child that's a week short of qualifying for the kids program, so why not let her in? Mary's baby is 8 days short of 12 months to take a trans Atlantic crossing, so why not let him go? Mr B has an 11 month old, so why can't he hire an in cabin sitter----so what that the rule is 12 months.

On every cruise there are probably dozens who have these " exceptions", and if every one of them were granted, why have any rules or policies? I don't care what the situation is, whether its a cruise or something in daily life, if there's a policy about something, follow the freaking policy, and don't expect a cruise line to bend their policy just for you.

We all know that the people manning the phones at a call center don't generally know squat. So, if the OP calls and gets some dingbat who says "Sure, bring the kid along", and they get to the terminal, only to be told the child is too young, then how would all of you feel who've told the OP to call, only to be refused boarding?

OK, I had nothing better to do on a long car trip so to pass the time, I counted the number of times someone either said outright or inferred they would make the call. An even dozen.:D

Yes, Darcie, you are correct on all points. Others have posted much the same things in one post or another but there are still arguments to the contrary and NOT even by the OP.

If everyone followed the "freaking policy" then there would be no booze smuggling threads, no chair hog threads, no I didn't purchase insurance threads and I need to cancel, no how can I get my 18 year old in the teens club threads, no can I let my non-potty trained child in the pool threads, ect and since threads such as these and this one have all the action around here things would be mighty boring.

Exactly what has happened on other issues. (Like the CC member who was told by HAL his German birth certificate would be OK.) The OP has not returned so I'll presume she did call and didn't get the answer she wanted.

Life is certainly more about what goes on than on these boards. :)
