Do you add a tip with every drink order?

Just wondering... My husband adds a tip everyone he orders a drink even though he knows a gratuity is already added. I appreciate the hard work of the servers and bartenders but this really adds up. Appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

I personally do not since they already add the 15%.

That extra buys him front of the line at the bar, an generous pour, the drink server check back 4x as much, servers beelining drinks back, etc.

Just the 15%, if drinks were less then I would consider a extra tip.

If we were an added pour and faster service probably worth it to me

No but we aren't big drinkers. I may have one or two drinks per day.

Depends if I'm at the bar or ordering a cocktail by the pool. At the bar I always get cozy with my bartender .

I don't. If I meet a real friendly bartender over a couple of days, I will slip him a five.

I always give an extra tip IF the service is good. I learned last cruise that additional tip goes directly to the server not in the pot to be split. This really does make a huge difference in my service that I receive.

I do in the mdr also when sitting by the pool but if I walk to the bar and get it myself no

Always tip a dollar they put in their pocket and no one has to know. Great service that way.

I have done both tip extra and not and found the service to be excellent either way.

 

Kinda creepy that some bar wait staff seem to follow me around the ship and just bring me my usual as I am sitting down somewhere..like my own personal bartender :D

Nope. 15% is plenty.

I don't but I only have two or three drinks the entire cruise. Now if the bar waiter in the dining room is attentive then I may tip them at the end of the week.

 

On our Fantasy cruise we had the grandchildren with us and bought each a soda card. We had anytime dining and I don't think the waiters were getting many extra tips. The bar waiter would bring the kids drinks but he wasn't very friendly, so middle of the week I gave him a $5. You would have thought I'd given him a $100, the difference was amazing, I'd have given it to him sooner if I'd known how much friendlier he would be.

 

The grandkids were never big soda drinkers so when I bought the cards I told them to make sure they got the most out of it. Well one night at dinner when my grandsons drink was served he said it was his 14th of the day. I guess I got my money's worth! :D

I always do. It might add an extra 30 or so dollars to the cost of the trip but the bartenders work hard to take care of you and you know that the extra tip goes to the individual and is not shared among them.

:eek::eek::eek:! Neither of my DDs (11 and 7) has had 14 sodas in her whole life, thus far! Sorry to go OT, and I'm totally not passing judgement or criticizing in anyway. I just read that number and was shocked. I have trouble comprehending that much soda in a day.:p:o

We found a super friendly server and tipped him an extra buck every time.

He treated us like gold and we also enjoyed talking to him.

We usually tip an extra $20 or so to the bartender at the martini bar on the last night along with a thank you note IF they were especially friendly. Since the three bartenders at the martini bar called my husband and I by name as we approached the second night. They remembered what we both drink. (Kinda embarrassing when they knew it so quick but I LIKE the spicy chipotle martinis :o) You becha' that they got the $20 each and a thank you note.

Yes. As a server myself, 18-20% is expected for good service.

If drinks are too expensive for you not to tip more than 15% then maybe you should order something less expensive ;)

Since a 15% tip is already added to our bar tab I will tip an extra dollar or two to the person who brings me my drinks if I am sitting any other place but the bar. For example; the serenity area, pool area, casino or theater.

15% when the drinks were $4 to $5 was good enough. Now that they are twice that, they are already getting twice as much.
