mrmet1986 Posted September 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Is there a decent public beach in Freeport or should I do an excursion and if so which one do you recommend ? I see a lot of negative reviews for the wyndham resort. Anyone ever been there and enjoyed it ? Kfoot Posted September 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2013 We were in Freeport last July. We took a taxi over to Port Lucaya and the driver said there was a public beach by the police station. We didn't get to see it, cause the sky open up and it rained pretty hard the entire time we were there. There's not much to do in Freeport
Drumbum675 Posted September 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2013 The public beach behind the police station is......well, unimpressive..

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I437P using Forums mobile app We went back a few yrs ago and took a beach excursion that included the Port Lucaya marketplace...I can't remember the name of the hotel, but we also got pool privileges in addition to the nice beach. It was worth the cost (couldn't have paid more than $40)..we'd been to Freeport the year before and did NOT book an excursion...we were sorely disappointed. Sorry I can't remember the name of the hotel...but we were pleased with it regardless!
Twin A Posted September 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2013 My husband and I very much enjoyed Junkanoo Beach when we were there last summer. I don't remember the exact cost, but we got beach chairs, an umbrella, and access to kayaks for less than $30. The cab ride there and back was nominal since we split it with other riders. The day we were there was very quiet and relaxing with only about 20/25 people there. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
SteelerCruiser Posted September 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2013 the beach that you access in the Lucaya area of Freeport near the Police Station is not too bad especially when you walk down the beach away from the access it is much better. We didn't think that area was awful either. It was a decent beach which was all we really wanted and was actually better than we expected. :) LuLu ~~~~

Qchell Posted September 3, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2013 On our first cruise my DH and I took the Glass Bottom Boat excursion in Freeport. Reasonably priced and we had an absolutely lovely time! The 'glass' bottom wasn't all that impressive, however the boat ride and views were incredible. When we ere done we had lunch at a restaurant in Port Lucaya, a couple of $1 flavored rum shots at the bar, and did a little window shopping before heading back to the ship on the bus. It's still one of our favorite excursions and we may do it again when we go back in a couple of months.
