cruzersky2 Posted September 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2013 If you buy wine when on-shore, can you bring it back? On the big cruise ships you have to check it and they give it to you at the end of the cruise. If I buy it, I want to be able to drink it on-board, not cart it back to the U.S.:o

You can even take a bottle to dinner and they will open it without a corkage fee.
Bet & Peg Posted September 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2013 I completely agree with rjscott! The guys at our table (including my DH) bought wine a few times and brought the bottles to the table at dinner time. Staff gave us NO attitude, open the bottles and politely poured them. The guys had bourght red wine and one of our ladies only drank white - the waiter nicely poured Viking's white for her as we were drinking "our" wine! But when you stop and think about it, we were saving Viking $$ by drinking our wine and not there's!!!!
H2Otstr Posted September 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2013 We went to a winery on one of our tours, bought wine and Viking delivered it to the ship for us so we didn't have to walk around with it. We took it to dinner and enjoyed drinking it. You can bring as much as you want on board; no corkage fee, either.
TravelBugM Posted September 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2013 We brought a bottle of scotch and some wine on board to have afternoon cocktails in our cabin. We also took a glass with us for the evening chat in the lounge. No issues whatsoever. We borrowed wine glasses from the lounge bar and got ice there when needed. All served with a smile. bobalink Posted September 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Does AMA have the same policies about bringing wine aboard to drink? Linda & Larry in NJ We were on the AmaLyra a few weeks ago. We purchased a bottle of local wine and enjoyed it while scenic cruising on the top deck. We have our own wine opener, so we just asked for wine glasses at the bar. No corkage fee or any problems. Enjoy your AMA cruise. We loved our first river cruise!
