Help! Cruise Critic App

Recommended Posts

I've just got a Nexus (i.e. Android) tablet (think I'm in need of one for my headache!) and am a complete novice and ignoramus as far as this device is concerned.:o

First of all I'm finding the CC site annoyingly unresponsive i.e. takes multiple 'taps' for it to respond (if indeed it will!) although other sites seem to be ok. I can't even logon as it won't accept a tap on the logon button!! :( and I'm finding it's virtually impossible to change from one page to another on a thread even if I can open it up - what a pain!

Would the CC App or any alternative make life easier for me? Any advice would be very gratefully received! :)

Sent from my trusty old laptop!!!!!! :D

Try it out - I have an IPad & tried the CC App but didn't like it as it is so different to the site itself so I just use the web page as I would on a PC & have no problems; just leave it logged in.

My husband has just bought a Nexus v2 & I have logged on via that (not via app but by google chrome) & had no problems - I ignored the bit that said "open in app" or "install" & went straight to log on bit.

Not sure if I have been very helpful.......

I've used the app now and again, but I do prefer using the web page, just because I'm used to it. The app is quite good though, never had a problem when using it.

Thanks Jules - sounds as though your husband has the same one - so all the more confusing that you've logged on no probs when I'm having a prob especially since on other sites it behaves as I would expect and responds quickly. I would much rather use the usual website. I'll get DH on the job to test it out more extensively to see if it's just me! :o

Thanks Sailaway - like you I'd prefer to stick with what I know. Just so frustrating at the mo - as you can imagine it's one of my most used sites! :o:D

Hi, these devices can be conquered!

I use Tapatalk which is brilliant for browsing CC.

Sent from my mobile using Tapatalk.

I used Tapatalk & really didn't like it; been on here for so long I like it the way it has always been ;)

Thanks both for the replies - really struggling with this tbh - getting it to accept my password is proving nigh-on impossible (did twice but since the device won't accept 'Remember me' either, I'm back to square 1 each time I come back to it). Even Dh is having no success and he's my default setting for all things techinical!!!

Tried the CC App but didn't like the format as much as the usual one which I'm used to. Wondered about trying the tapatalk jaceyar - although, if again, it's a different format as Jules says, i'm not too sure about how I'll get on with it - but might give that a whirl and try it out - at this stage I've nothing to lose!

Interesting my BiL is staying with us and I've had no prob getting in on his Samsung. Perhaps I just need to persevere  But thanks again for your sugestions. :)

I've just tried it again & this is what I did Kruz:-

Gone onto google

Type in Cruise critic message board Thomson in search engine

Clicked on it

Click on star in toolbar (this will add to favourites in your bookmarks)

Crossed off use in CC App

Gone to box at top right to log in

Typed in User Name & password

Ticked remember me

It brings me straight to Thomson page - same as you can see on a PC

My husband has a Nexus 7 2 (2013)

Good luck

Thanks Jules - we'll follow your instructions to the letter later (have visitors and the beach is calling in this fab weather so must get ready to go). I'm really hoping I can crack it and really appreciate you taking the time to help. :) Yes this is the new version Nexus which only came out last week so think it must be the same as your DH's. I'll let you know how I get on.

Well I have really struggled with this. I followed your instructions Jules and did manage to get logged in and it even accepted the 'Remember me' bit too! I penned a reply but then annoyingly I couldn't get it to 'Submit'. DH has installed Firefox for Android and opened CC in that - if this message can be posted it seems it could be a solution. I hope so as I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get on with my new toy! So here goes...............

Thanks! :D Yes really pleased - it's now behaving just like on my laptop so I'm happy! Thanks for all the help and encouragement all. :):)

Lol - glad you persevered & got there in the end ;). Happy surfing on your new toy :). :)

Just out of interest, my DH said when you first got your Nexus, did you update immediately Android from 4.2 to 4.3??!!

Apparently so - DH says it came through as an automatic up-date although I haven't got a clue! (Version now is 4.3 he tells me.) But thanks again - feeling really up-beat about it now especially since I had been thinking it was a waste of money (didn't say that to DH though!) if I couldn't use it for one of my most interesting, informative and entertaining sites!! :D

And thanks too happy v - I'd hate to go too. I'd be quite lost! ;)
