spyder209 Posted September 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2013 ok i know this is a Carnival board but be honest which of these would you choose? Carnival Breeze-Grand Turk, La Romana Dominican Republic, Williamstad Curacao,Oranjestad Aruba. Or Island Princess-Aruba, Cartagena Colombia,Colon Panama,Panama Canal Transit, Puerto Limon Costa Rica, Grand Cayman? Of these 2 I have only been to Grand Cayman so I am unsure which to choose? We love to snorkel and have beach time but are open to trying new things. What would you do?
scott_gallant Posted September 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I did the Breeze sailing in March/April and doing it again on March 1, 2014. Loved it. That said, the other option sounds interesting. For me it would come down to price and timing. Loves the Breeze and Aruba and Curaçao especially. So different than the rest of the Caribbean. zoncom Posted September 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Not a CCL fan but both good water itins. Get Fodors Caribbean Ports of Call or similar book cruise out of library. Factor in the 2 ships and price.
OCruisers Posted September 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2013 We like Princess much better but do cruise on Carnival from time to time so this is a quite honest reply. The ports of call are much better for the sort of things you like to do on the Carnival cruise. We sort of like what you like and as much as we love Princess ... would pick the Carnival. ;) LuLu ~~~~
Want2Cruise 701 Posted September 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2013 If you want beach and snorkel, I'd go with carnival. If you want more of a sightseeing itinerary, I'd go with princess. Never sailed princess so I can't comment. We've sailed three different lines and we like carnival the least but do sail when we want to cruise and need something budget friendly. TeresaJ Posted September 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2013 The Princess itinerary looks awesome. The Breeze itinerary would be good as well plus the bonus of a new ship. That's a hard decision. Good luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app

gatour Posted September 4, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2013 If you have never have done partial/full Panama Canal transit,I would choose the Island Princess. It is a very unique experience.

Lovefuninthesun Posted September 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I would love, love, love to do the canal transit! However, I also like the Breeze itinerary. That said, I guess I would go with whichever were the cheaper of the two! You really can't go wrong here! :) Sent from my iPhone 5 using Cruise Critic App
k2excursion Posted September 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I'd be leaning toward the Princess one. The Breeze really isn't that great. It looks nice & has burgers & bars, but Princess also looks nice & has bars & good food. The Breeze's waterpark & ropes course would be a major advantage over Princess. Carnival is more typical of having an active, lively crowd (whether you see that as good or bad). I went straight from the Breeze to a larger Princess ship than Island. Overall, I thought more of the Breeze, even though I think many other Carnival ships have Breeze beat. But Princess will have much better entertainment! Both itineraries look good, but I love the idea of the Panama Canal thing, plus I've never been to South America. If price were close to the same, I would probably pick the Princess based on the itinerary, and I would just deal with maybe not having as many fun things to do during sea days. skrufy Posted September 4, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 4, 2013 No contest, if you have never trasited the Panama Canal, you must do it. An amazing journey.
dougandmo Posted September 4, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I'd go with Princess, but I'm not into snorkeling and what not. Panama Canal is just too appealing if the prices are comparable.
Lerin Posted September 4, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 4, 2013 All things being equal; Princess. Mainly for the Panama Canal.

ready2cruzagain Posted September 4, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Definitely Princess!!! Did that itinerary on the Breeze and it was great ports though we missed the Dominican Republic. Two weeks later we did Aruba, Curacao on the Caribbean Princess and WOW!!! Princess knocked my socks off. The entertainment, the crew, the food....everything was superior to Carnival. If you have never done the Panama Canal Passage you really should do that itinerary.
Tapi Posted September 4, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 4, 2013 That Princess itinerary is in my bucket list. Only two cruise lines currently offer partial Panama Canal transits (Holland America is the other one).
spyder209 Posted September 4, 2013 Author #18 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Thanks guys! I didn't mention that the Carnival cruise is 8 nights and the Princess one is 10 and they are only about $100 difference in price so it make sense to go with Princess. I just wanted to get opinions on the ports first! Thanks for all the help!
