Wheeling_family_of_3 Posted September 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2013 If we put down cash (literal cash) on the onboard tab and dnt use it all, will they issue us literal cash back at the end of the cruise? We dont have credit cards and i dont want to carry cash to pay for items as we go, but we are planning to spend very liberally on board. We will use cash in port. Any experience with this? I have credit card but do not like to give anyone control and have seen war stories of disputed charges that are never resolved it is very simple and pain less I would recommend depositing more than you would ever use and keep track of your day usage as you would if not on vacation

Sometimes you have to deposit an amount per day eg $100 per cabin but that does differ from ship to ship.Any refund you get is in cash. Whatever you do ENJOY the Oasis she's AMAZING!!!! Esmerelda Posted September 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Yes, that is exactly how it works. We've had two sailings that we got money back at the end. This last cruise on the Allure, we went over what we had put down so we added a debit card the 4th day of the cruise. Contrarary to what everyone else seems to post here (?), we've never had any holds put on a debit card. The exact amount that was due was charged. I'm not sure if it's their banks or what the problem is but our debit card has never been an issue and we've done it that way 4 or 5 times. Have a great cruise! :p

mpoole3 Posted September 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Every cruise (at least before the booze package) I'd put $200-$400 in cash on day 2 morning. Anything not used just pick up at the end of the cruise. I still plan on putting $100 down for my upcoming cruise for tips. And yes I still leave a card of file, just prefer cash. Note: get it before departure because those lines can ruin your vacation.

That's the best way to do it, give them a debit or credit card on the last day before the lines get long and you're all set
