Hi,

Along with our friends we have booked on QV World & Exotic Voyages 2015. Our Staterooms are ED Grade; 1111 & 1113.

Does anyone on the Forum have any experiences of these Staterooms, noise etc etc and any actual photographs of the interiors.

Best Wishes,

Dave

We have not stayed in this cabin but, from the looks of it you are directly underneath the Chart Room Lounge. Since this lounge is mostly busy at night I should think you wouldn't really experience any noise here, unless you retire for the evening very early.

You are also centrally located near the elevators and stairs so easy to negotiate the ship and move around.

Here's a link to a bit of a shaky video on youtube featuring an ocean view cabin on the QV.

Have a great voyage.

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Many thanks for your prompt reply. Looking at the Deck Plan there is a large empty space to the Aft of the Staterooms! Also we seem to be under the entrance to Brittania Restaurant Lower! I was wondering if the blank space on the Deck Plan was a disembarkation/embarkation point for going ashore etc.

There maybe someone else on the forum who has had those cabins in the past?

Again many thanks,

Dave

The blank bit you are looking at is a crew accomadation area... I was in 1111 a few years a go, Ill see if i can find my pic of the stateroom for you....

while ive got the hull plans out dave, here is the plan of that particular stateroom...

it shouldn't effect the enjoyment of your stateroom but you have the frozen fish storage room and the beginning of the provisioning area below you and the corner banquette in the chart room above you. I loved been down that low as you are very close to the sea and it made for mesmerizing watching.

None of the food prep areas are on deck one other than the crew mess room, everything for Brittannia is on A deck or 2 deck

Hi Jonathan and Roscoe,

Many thanks for your replies.

Roscoe 'Did you find it noisy? Was there much vibration from the engines?' Hope you can find the photo of the Stateroom.

Best wishes,

Dave

sorry dave, i pulled my external hardrive which had my pics of 2008 in it and it has failed. If i can get it up and running, ill post. It looked exactly as the pictures of the QV ocean view examples looked though but as a mirror image. (i.e. bed on the stern side)

No noise, very very quiet. I cant say that I remember vibration in the stateroom though I do remember vibration in the dining room at times. The position of this stateroom is very good in my opinion because there are only a small number of staterooms, not a lot of through traffic and it was very quiet generally. If the sea is a little choppy and you dont like the movement the position here at the stern is more stable. I prefer one deck for an ocean view stateroom.

Hi Roscoe,

Again many thanks for your prompt reply.

I see that you are travelling on QV next year and from your profile that will be the fifth time on her, that speaks volumes!

Is there a partition or bulhead separating 1113 and the blank area, also from your deck plan there looks as if there is some sort of Room/Store? The lifts are quite close, did you experience any noise from them or above?

If you have time maybe you could have a look in the area around those Staterooms and see if there have been any changes? I have read that she is due for a refit!

Best wishes,

Dave

Hi Dave, yes...the QV is my favourite. Looking at the hull plans again have got me looking forward to her all over again.

There isn't a bulkhead between 1113 and the crew quarters, in fact the expansion joint is between 1111 and 1109. You shouldn't experience any noise

from the crew corridor, in fact from memory there is a sign on the back of the door reminding crew that they are entering a passenger area. The crew cabins back here are some two bed, senior officer cabins and some inside officers accommodations...all very respectful!

You have a service pantry opposite 1111, and there is plenty of insulation (and in fact a crew stairway) between you and the lifts. The only noise you'll hear is the occasional "ping" of the lift alarm. The other big blank space you are seeing is airconditioning and service area. All very quiet.

From memory, the refit will probably be carpets and general maintenance. Nothing major is planned at this stage.

The only disadvantage I can think of is that deck one has no dreaded laundrette. Though according to some it is a den of inequity anyway so maybe its for the best.

regards Roscoe

Hi, Dave....

We made it home from LA OK. We have been following Ms Vicki as she's making her way to the south Pacific.

From your CC inquiries, I get the impression that you are concerned about cabin noise. Carol thinks the insulation on the QV is not as good as on the Mary. On QV we were in an inside stateroom up at the bow, and at times could hear talking from the adjoining port-side-abutting stateroom. Of course, our room creaked and vibrated some at times, but we're on a ship.

We hope that you and B are enjoying yourselves.

Thanks again for arranging the Antiqua tour. I would like to go back there with more time.

Now in hindsight, what deck/cabin area should you have booked?? Just curious.

I talked with a avid dancer gal we met aboard QV who was traveling alone on the WC. She was attempting to change her stateroom. She had requested a move into one of the newly advertised "single" staterooms, but was told that these few rooms were not ready or available yet (as I recall). The heat in her booked room wasn't working. Hopefully the heat issue was resolved.

Enjoy the sunshine.
