Laminating luggage labels

Bocagirl1

Recommended Posts

I have printed off my paper luggage labels with Cabin No on etc which you are supposed to put round your luggage handles. Usually by the time we get to the ship, the labels are all torn and tatty. Is it ok to laminate them and then put them round the luggage handles does anyone know?

Sure... You can also use clear packing tape.

Cruise Critic Shop has a selection of plastic tags which you can insert paper labels into and then re-use on future Cruises;)

Go to "favorsbyseredipity.com" or "amazon.com" and search for cruise luggage tags. They sell some that are made to be used for Princess' luggage tags.

These are what I've used for years. It only takes a couple of seconds to use them, and they work great. They are made of sturdy plastic so they last for a long time. I find it much easier than messing around with packing tape.

It sounds like you install your tags too early, they should not be installed until just prior to boarding, like before you leave your last hotel or airport, to prevent having too many tags on you baggage, confusing the airline baggage handlers, and also prevent tearing.

Yes it's OK to laminate them!! That's what I've been doing, ever since this system started, and it works great. ;) :D

PS: Punch a hole in each end, and tie the ends together with plastic zip ties!!

+1

While we have nowhere near the number of cruises that Cato has, we have the same experience and recommendations re luggage tags. Granted, it is our practice to try to arrive at least one day before embarkation and add the Princess tags to our luggage before we leave the hotel; the front desk and/or the bellman have staplers.

Enjoy your cruise!

Yes, you can laminate them, but I've found that they are really, really stiff then. If you have a choice in lamination thickness, go with the thinnest you can get so they're more flexible.

I've found that clear packing tape is much better. It's more pliable, bends and moves much better when it's knocked by other luggage or luggage handlers.

We have always laminated ours since you had to print your own. Fold it up first, then you can get 2 labels out of an A4 sheet. Also take a mini stapler if flying so that can attach them when we get to the pre-cruise hotel.

Packing tape is great. Punch holes in the ends of the tags and secure them on with zip ties. Works like a charm!

:D

That's exactly what I do - only takes a couple minutes and cheap too. I don't put them on the luggage, though, until I'm ready to go to the port.

No more staples, hole punchers, packing tape, laminating et al.

Here's a picture of the Serendipity tag holders.

We have been using these Serendipity luggage tag holders for five years. They are great and have held up well.
