Wow lots of Aussies!

Loving your posts, keep them coming. I leave in one week so this thread is just what I need! We are flying Emirates through Dubai, into Venice. Scored some fabulous seats with my frequent flyer points so really spoiling ourselves this time.

We also flew Emirates direct Dubai with 6 hr stop over then to Istanbul. Emirates gave us hotel room which was brilliant, shower and sleep. Returning from Milan.

At Myrina, did the ship Caique tour because it seemed something a bit different. It was very good; diving off the boat into the Aegean Sea and swimming around in that beautiful water was nice. Had Dancing Under the Stars in the night, the singer and band were excellent.

Ephesus was great day. Arriving at Izmir was beautiful.

Private tour was good. Terrace houses, library and theatre are amazing.

The Rock Opera in the Grand Salon was very good, would see it again if performed but unfortunately won't be repeated in the next 10 days. I remember some discussion about the columns in the GS and can see that you need to select seating accordingly otherwise view is restricted. Arrive early and it's not a problem.

I liked Patmos. Took taxi 40 euro round trip to St Johns and monastery. Beautiful views of Patmos.

If you come to this region you must swim in the Aegean Sea at every chance, it is sooo nice.

Santorini. All you can say about Santorini is WOW.

Sorry about the ship shots but it was so calm here.

Walked along the ridge to Imerovigili and caught bus to Oia. Had lunch at beautiful place above Ammoudi.

Great pics which bring back fond memories.

We visited Patmos last October on Odyssey. Really enjoyed the island although we saved on the 40 Euros and walked up the hill to the monastery  Not sure if that was a good move or not :D

The town around the monastery is quite nice. Did you get over to see the windmills? Also, the little port (where the tender arrives) had some nice shopping and nicer terraces to sit out and enjoy a beer.

Yes, great pictures. When we did Patmos we found a cute restaurant that had fresh squid hanging on a clothesline. My husband loves squid and it was one of my favorite pics of his head sticking through the clothesline in between the squid. Looks like beautiful weather and you certainly have a knack for photography.

They had the squid hanging at Oia today. It looked so unusual and not so inviting but probably very nice. Just came back from Rock The Boat. Beautiful sunset and lights. Music not as good at the Rock Opera. But then the youngies probably liked it.

The weather is magical. We are so lucky. It was hot as we walked today but a restful day tomorrow at Paros before a full day at Athens. Just saw an envelope on the next cabin about disembarkation and felt so sad for them, they must be leaving in Athens. The crew on the ship are unbelievable. Our cabin stewardess Monika is the nicest person you could meet. Manual in the Collanade knows exactly what drinks we have and that be like to have a drink prior to dinner and then order dinner. Did not expect this sort of attentiveness.

Was in SB Square getting info and the lady before me was asking about walking up. The crew said I wouldn't walk up, only down if you wish.

One of our friends bought some fabulous clothing at very good prices in those shops. Luckily DW wasn't there.

Everyone must be back from Rock The Boat as Internet has slowed.

The walk up was fine. But the weather was hot, you needed plenty of water, good shoes and not be in a hurry. There were a few of us Seabourn passengers that chose to do it. However, the walk down was better. One of the nice things about Patmos was that there were walking trails without cars on them. We bought quite a few gifts in Patmos. In particular, we found some lovely olive-oil soap that went down very well with friends and family.

Anyway, really enjoying your photos. Keep them coming and have a great cruise.

Is the Grand Salon the theater/stage on the Odyssey? Also what is the Rock Opera? Is that limited to O class ships?

Yes, I think it is called that !!! Perhaps too many martini's in the OB. ;)

The Rock Opera was a show in the theatre, it was spectacular. Martin, Johana and co were just brilliant. Would watch it again any day. Martin multitasked by taking us on the Bridge tour. Galley tour tomorrow. Johanna and co were at the cocktail party part night, they are all so friendly and nice.

One week down and loving this ship. Did the tour of the galley, it is well worth doing. Kurt the head chef seems very nice and very good at his job, the food is amazing.

You can see the effort everyone puts in to please the guests. I know everyone talks about it, but I wasn't expecting the level of service we have received. Many new crew at Athens, also changed captains, Mark Dexter now.

As i said, the quality of the food is top class. Had caviar for the first time on the galley tour and been having it ever since, it is very nice. The lobster at dinner last night at the Colonnade was as nice as I have ever tasted. And the salmon (both smoked and freshly cooked) at lunch today was just as good. Haven't had a meal that wasn't tasty and tender.

Can always find something nice to drink, the Glenmorangie whiskeys I have been getting are very generous (more like doubles) and a nice drop.

As a result of all this nice food and drink have had to visit this place often and found it excellent. The gym is crowded in the morning as expected but later in the day has been no problem.

Did a private tour of Athens. Worked out very well, had a driver and guide for 6 of us. The guide was very knowledgeable and was worth having, saved a lot of time and spent the time available better. Got to the Acropolis entrance and they were still doing the morning ritual of putting up the flag of Greece. Only about 2 other people there, walked straight in. It was helpful there was only one HAL ship and the Wind Star in port that day.

Returned to the ship ready for another safety drill, sail away party and being our second week, an in transit party and more drinks and nice caviar.

Great photos. I look forward to your next leg !

I have heard nothing but great praise for Exec. Chef Kurt.

Yes, he did another great job tonight. Was formal night. Much dressier than last formal night. The ladies and gents were far more formal. The lobster and lamb were mains, and after the lobster last night, wanted it again so I asked if it was possible to have the lobster as a starter. Nothing is ever a problem and the lobster didn't disappoint. Mark Dexter is captain and just spoke prior to the show. He is a real character and obviously enjoys his job. The show tonight Bravo was fabulous, the entertainers are top class and nice and friendly also. I am really enjoying the experience of being on this cruise.

I have friends joining the Odyssey in a few weeks time, so am so happy to see that Captain Dexter and Chef Kurt are on board! They are the best! Please tell me they will still be there for October! Can you also let me know who the CD, Hotel Manager etc are? Thanks!

The HM is Karl, seems a nice guy. Heidicha is the CD and Jay is the assistant. Always visible around the ship and very friendly.

Overcast day today in Katakolon. Had a lovely view from the balcony until the Ruby Princess pulled up beside us. All I can say is I am glad I am on the O.
