Disney Transfers to Port

We are going on the Magic for Christmas out of Miami ...I think we will stay at a hotel the night before and use the Disney transfers to the port ...

Is it true you can not get to the Port early if you use the Disney transfers ? Are you glad you used the Disney Transfers ?

Any Hotel advise that uses the Disney Transfers ? How far is it from the Airport to the Port ?

Thank you for your help

Well I am not an expert on Miami, but I would say normally from the official DCL hotel to port there is a rolling service. It's true WDW hotels pick up later circa 11am, but say Hyatt MCO, there is a rolling service. The best thing is to call Disney and ask, normally the hotel isn't far from the port, Miami as I recall is quite tight together, I sailed there once and recall reasonably close.

While I haven't cruised out of Miami, I have done DCL out of Port Canaveral, Dover, Barcelona, etc. It has basically run the same way at each port.

If you are staying at a hotel in/immediately adjacent to the airport so that you are actually being transported from the airport, there are multiple departures from the airport. They will not allow you to be at the port till they are ready for you simply by not having the first bus depart until the needed time. In Barcelona, they gave us a guided tour of the city in order to delay our terminal arrival; in Orlando, they just don't leave the MCO area.

If you are in a hotel served by the DCL bus system, there is one departure from the hotel. You will be notified of the time and that is the only pick up. The nice thing is that the hotel will have the Disney luggage service. Bell services will pick up your luggage from your hotel room and you will next see it outside your cabin on the ship. Not having to drag around your luggage is a definite plus, especially if you have young children.

From WDW, the bus service is late. I haven't seen it be that late from any other hotel.

Another option (but this is more work) is to stay at an airport area hotel that has a transfer service to/from the airport. You can go back to the airport in the morning and catch the DCL bus from there. That way, you are on "your" time schedule in the same way you would be if you were flying in that morning. You'll check in at the airport (there will be DCL people very obvious) and be on the next bus. Obviously, this means you will take your luggage to the hotel and back to the airport.

Or, look at the cost of private transportation from your hotel to the port.

it's easy to arrange for a cab/limo to be waiting for you at whatever time you choose outside your Miami hotel (even south beach:D) the morning of your cruise.
