obi170 Posted September 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2013 We'll be disembarking from NCL Spirit in Venice on Oct 14, 2013, 9am. We're trying to book a train from the Venezia Mestre train station to Florence. How long should we allow for disembarking the ship, catching a land taxi to Mestre station and boarding the train. They have trains leaving 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm.
CruiserBruce Posted September 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2013 I would grab the 11:30, at the earliest.
cherylandtk Posted September 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Since your ship arrives the day before, you are free to depart any time that morning, but you must be off by 9:00. Allow two hours from debark to train departure at Mestre Stn., but you can take an early train if you wish. It won't take two hours, but that allows for all sorts of delays. I would also add that many of those trains start at the Venezia S. Lucia Station, which is walkable for most people. (A 200 meter walk from the ship, a short Peoplemover ride and another 600 meter walk from people mover over a bridge to the station) Since you are taking the train, I am guessing you may be able to handle all your luggage and if you are mobile, I would start at that station. You can book your ticket right at the station the day before, if you like, or just buy the full fare ticket the day of the trip. You can save some money by pre-booking, but a full fare ticket is refundable if your plans change and can be used on any train going between Venice and Florence. Keith1010 Posted September 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2013 I too would go with 11:30 AM. Keith
navybankerteacher Posted September 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Why would you want to take a taxi to Mestre when you can walk to San Lucia station and get the same train about ten minutes before it gets to Mestre?
