highrisesea Posted September 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Do they have some sort of hot fish or chicken made to order still? Any info on this would be appreciated! Thanks I'd very much like to know also. Especially on the Summit. It seems that only certain ships have the new Aqua Spa Cafe menu.
jenniebnyc Posted September 9, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I am interested in the Relection. Anyone who has info on Reflection and Summit, it would be appreciated! Menus would be a bonus!!!
miched Posted September 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2013 The last 3 cruises that we have been on has the new ASC menu. It was what it is. You either choose from what there is or you go somewhere else. The staff said that many have complained but they can only provide what comes from corporate. I doubt that it will ever change back and eventually the cafe may turn into something else. Welcome to the new modern luxury. :D .
jenniebnyc Posted September 9, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Thanks for the response. So, everything is already laid out and there is nothing made to order? Are there hot dishes? Still a salad bar? Breadsticks? Cold soup? What were the "entrees" like? I don't mind quinoa, wheatberries, etc, but is is a bite of food on a plate or an actual lunch entree now? Thanks!! I have yet to hear from anyone who actually likes the changes. Of course the much maligned Celebrity website still show the old menu. http://media.celebritycruises.com/celebrity/content/en_US/pdf/menu/AS_menu_1.pdf

Here's a link to the Aqua Spa Cafe SPE menu: http://specertified.com/restaurants/celebrity-cruises-aquaspa-cafe I know there was one on the celebrity cruise website but cannot seem to find the most up-to-date one that I saw a few months ago. I was on Eclipse in August and the menu via this link is pretty close to the one I saw. The food wasn't particularly memorable. There are pre-portioned plates but you can take more than one and combine if one plate is not enough. Only hot food I can recall was the soup. No grill to order proteins. CruzPotato Posted September 9, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Thanks. Did you happen to see new items on the dinner menu in MDR? There was at least one SPE dinner entree offering each day on the daily specials side of the menu in MDR. I remember having that offering early in the cruise and it was a fish entree. I thought it was very bland - not because of lack of salt but lack of spices. I tried some other SPE offerings but they didn't make much of an impression. I did try some interesting sounding vegetarian options and I recall thinking that they were much more flavorful.

jenniebnyc Posted September 9, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted September 9, 2013 So, is this not happening? This is from the pdf that CELEBRITY posted... à la carte selection please allow fifteen minutes preparation time for "à la carte" items as they are prepared to order: cured artic char* with baby greens & honey mustard vinaigrette shrimp* with mango chutney
Cruise a holic Posted September 9, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Do they have some sort of hot fish or chicken made to order still? Any info on this would be appreciated! Thanks sailed on Summit six weeks ago. They didn't have any grilled to order entrees. Last year on the Reflection, March 2013, I did order Fish a few times. I will also be on the Silhouette and hope the haven't discontinued the grilled dishes.

On our recent cruises on the Millenium and eclipse, I've noticed that the current Celebrity trend seems to be that salt is their major and perhaps only seasoning. Hard for me to say because I love salt..pretzels, pickles and so on...but even I found the food very salty.
mgmigs Posted September 9, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Did summit in may. 1st cruise that I never ate at aqua spa. This used to be my every day lunch. Especially Loved going on embarkation day.

SSFrance69 Posted September 9, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 9, 2013 So, is this not happening? This is from the pdf that CELEBRITY posted... à la carte selection please allow fifteen minutes preparation time for "à la carte" items as they are prepared to order: cured artic char* with baby greens & honey mustard vinaigrette shrimp* with mango chutney I was on Summit for a back to back at the end of August. You have to look at the menu hanging on the wall by the AS cafe. It lists the daily a la carte selections. You have to ask one of the servers for what you want (they don't have these items sitting out on the buffet with the other cold dishes). It takes about 10 minutes and they bring it to your table. One day they had a miso poached salmon. I didn't like it nearly as well as the grilled salmon they used to cook. The miso sauce was gratuitous and overpowered the salmon. I asked a couple of times for them to grill a piece of salmon and was turned away. There is grilled salmon in the buffet but only at 5:30, which was useless to me. One thing they did serve that I enjoyed were cold yogurt salads: chicken with green goddess yogurt dressing, tuna salad and egg salad. They were good albeit a bit salty. They had the cold soups which were nice. Nothing else was memorable. FWIW - even the Maitre d' from Normandy who runs the AS cafe said he didn't understand why they could not grill the salmon since they have it there and have the means to do it. X - bring back the grilled salmon! It's a petty cut.

CruzPotato Posted September 10, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 10, 2013 It isn't noted but there is a charge for the smoothies and yogurt sundaes. . There is a charge for smoothies but are included in the Premium Beverage Pacakge (either non-alcoholic or alcoholic) I see that the Classic does not include it. I had ordered one smoothie on Embarkation day and though it was specially made, I didn't get it delivered until nearly at the end of my meal. I did not order another smoothie again - but I never went to the Aqua Spa Cafe again either. I cannot comment on the yogurt sundaes as I didn't have any. jenniebnyc Posted September 10, 2013 Author #22 Share Posted September 10, 2013 I was told the juices and smoothies were part of classic package and yogurt parfaits were not. Can someone confirm? Thanks
Gonzo70 Posted September 10, 2013 #23 Share Posted September 10, 2013 I was told the juices and smoothies were part of classic package and yogurt parfaits were not. Can someone confirm? Thanks Juice should be included, but not smoothies. Celebrity's website lists what beverages are included with each package in the FAQ on the beverage packages. Just type "Beverage Package" into the search box on Celebrity's home page and click on the first item that shows in the search.
