Detergent onboard Pride

Does anyone know what brand of laundry detergent is sold in the laundry rooms on the Pride? Or (long shot, I know), what kind is used in the ship's laundry? I'm probably going to need to either do or send out some laundry but hubby's skin is sensitive to a lot of detergents....

Pick up a travel size detergent or two from Walmart or the like and use them. Probably cheaper too. Also put a few fabric softener sheets in a baggie too.

It has worked great for us when we've had to do laundry.

I would agree on this point. We always carry a few of the travel Tide packs and some dryer sheets. It is definitely cheaper and we are used to Tide...so no worries with breaking out for us.

There is a product that looks like a thick dryer static pad that is impregnated with soap. We drop one in the washer (where the soap gets used up) then transfer the pad with the clothes to the dryer where it gets used as an anti-static pad. Works great. Travels easy. Use one per wash.

Purex sheets. Fantastic invention for travel. THey even make "free" version with no scent or dye for sensitive skin. Not the toughest detergent out there, but works fine for travel. We take them when we stay in a condo or rent a place that has a washer. They were great for taking to Hawaii - just stick them in a Ziploc and throw in the suitcase. My mother has really sensitive skin and has detergent issues and was fine with these, although of course everyone is different in that respect.

Purex laundry sheets. Never cruise without 'em! :D

Aren't they out of production?

You know, I seem to remember that they went away for awhile... But they're around now. I've seen them in Walmart a few times recently, and many online retailers (like Amazon) have them. They even come in multiple scents (and unscented) now! Perfect for travel. :)

I doubt the ship's laundry uses any brand name, as we know it. It's likely commercial grade with antibacterial properties due to the volume of germs that can get passed.

Nooooooo..........!!!!!! I'm glad I have a supply stored away! The pod things are fine if you are driving somewhere, but could be a mess if one "popped" in your luggage. Plus you need the separate dryer sheet or fabric softener.

In the deck 7 laundry, there is All and Surf detergents and Snuggle dryer sheets.

Thank you for being the one person who actually answered my question!

I wanted to know if I would need to carry any detergent with us or if it would be OK to use what's in the laundry rooms. But thanks, everyone, for telling me how to carry on my own, or what brand I should use (he's allergic to Tide too, so not particularly helpful...)

This is from our cruise last year. I don't know if the price has gone up, but it was $1.50 per box of detergent at that time.

Also, take quarters or get them early from guest services. We took some and ended up having to get more, and the ladies working said they were almost out!

We travel with allergies and know of the problems. We have found not to rely on what has happened in the past because things can and do change. Safer to bring your own as a couple loads worth of detergent doesn't take up that much room. Nothing much is worse than an allergy rash on vacation.

At least Carnival allows you to use your own detergent. IIRC HAL dispenses it's own special detergent into it's self-serve laundries.
