Explorer - 3 JS vs 1 Royal Suite

Well, perks are great, no question there - however, privacy is a big issue for the two adults who will need to share the sofa bed. Two adults will have a nice bedroom with private baths. Four kids could be in the "bunk" room, leaving the sofa bed to the other two adults - and all six would be sharing one small bath unless the two in the bedroom will share. Still, eight people with two baths is a bit of a stretch. Not sure if I'd do it unless I got the big room - lol.

Depends on the ages of the kids. If you are talking a bunch of teenagers, the third bathroom might be a better choice. If you are talking little kids, having everyone in one cabin may be a better choice especially if you have some that will be in bed early. You already have double points with the JS, really need to decide if the other benefits are worth it.

We have 3 jr.suites on Explorer in Feb. for a family of 8. Would we be better off in a Royal Suite that supposedly holds 8? I can see privacy and 4 kids chaos being issues, but would the perks be worth it?

The Royal Suite holds four. The Royal Family Suite holds eight.

The RFS is configured with two bedrooms - one master suite with two twins that convert to a queen, and one with two twins that convert to a queen along with two murphy beds - and a living room with a couch that converts to a sofa bed for two. There is a bathroom with a bathtub connected to the master suite and a second standard bathroom with a shower available to the other bedroom and living room. There is also a large balcony.

You would have one more bathroom (and all with tubs) in the JS's. Only you can decide if the perks are worth it or not. Both the JS's and the RFS would yield double cruise points.
