smilejesuslovesu Posted September 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2013 We are considering doing the 20 night Alaskan Yukon Cruise tour and I was wondering if anyone has done that one and if they have any advice or warnings that would be helpful...Also I would like to know it the Oosterdam and the Statendam have a guest laundry. I am wondering how I can pack for a 20 day adventure and not be able to do laundry. Thanks in advance for any info that can be provided.

We did the 19 night Y4T cruisetour in 2012. Should be the same as yours except the land tour was first. They've made some changes to it. You now fly between Dawson City and Fairbanks (previously it was a bus trip on the Top of the World Highway). And they use a bus from Fairbanks to Denali (previously you went by train). We absolutely loved our cruisetour. Would like to do it again (without the changes).
Lady Chew Posted September 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2013 We just did the same tour last month. Land first. It was hard "work" but very well worth it. We are even considering taking it again in another year or so. I don't know how you would pack for 20 days on that trip with no laundry without taking tons of luggage. Parts of the trip are very dusty and dirty, it can be hot, not all clothes are suitable for hand laundry. There is a laundry room on the ship, and there were also facilities in the hotels. I hate having to do laundry on vacation but for longer trips, I just get 'er done.

The Statendam has self-serve laundries, the Oosterdam does not. Both ships offer laundry services by the piece, by the bag (about $22 in AK), or unlimited (about $7/day in AK)

Lady Chew Posted September 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2013 This is what we did on our cruisetour: Plane from Vancouver to Whitehorse (Yukon) Scenic motorcoach (lots of space) picked us up at Whitehorse airport and took us to hotel, we had the same coach & driver, Whitehorse to Dawson City, Dawson City to Fairbanks. Quick "regular" bus ride to train station in Fairbanks Scenic train ride to Denali - it was great! Scenic train ride Denali to Anchorage Quick bus ride to hotel, quick bus to train station the next morning Train ride from Anchorage to Seward cruise port - not the scenic train Walk :D to ship
