helyn12 Posted September 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2013 Unlike my last Regent cruise, although I tried to book tours on my first allowable date, I am wait listed on more than 50% of my selections. These requested choices are both the free and premium selections. My travel agent tells me that "all will be OK and tours will open up on the ship". I have noticed some postings, for past Regent cruises, which suggest this is not the case. Any suggestions?

I don't recall seeing any suggestions. Rather the reverse where most people will reassure you that your TA is correct. In my own experience of many cases of being listed,, waitlisted tours have without exception cleared the waitlist.
JMARINER Posted September 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2013 Most of the time they clear. Rarely they don't. Sometime they offer more options on the ship. J
quepaquete Posted September 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2013 This happened to me for our south America cruise at the end of the year. No big deal, I phoned the shore excursions desk a few days later and the rep confirmed us for all the wait-listed. Also there was one I couldn't even get on the wait list and the same rep took care of it. Yes, I booked with a T/A, and I could have dealt thru him, but it was a short call. Rather than calling TA, who may be busy and had to return my call, then TA had to call Regent, and then call or email me back.
Rare RachelG Posted September 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2013 Almost always, my waitlisted excursions have cleared, even when I booked them on the ship. The only times this has not happened is when the excursion is extremely capacity controlled.
TedC Posted September 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2013 Several years ago we booked a short cruise at last minute, all our tours were waitlisted and when we got into our cabin ALL had been cleared! There are cancelations and Regent often adds more slots to take care of passengers. I wouldn't worry - relax and savor your cruise!
newlondon Posted September 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2013 helyn12, In all of our cruises with Regent the only tour that did not clear was a trip for 16 people only to petroglyphs in AUS. I wouldn't worry unless one of your choices was this small.
jhp Posted September 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 16, 2013 Hope you're doubts are lifted somewhat, helyn! I concur with those above, as well.
Catpow Posted September 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2013 We were on this trip as part of the Circle South America earlier this year. As mentioned, everything cleared we wanted: Destinations were fantastic in trying to meet everyone's expectations. We also manage to change a couple of tours at short notice after viewing their detailed 'blurb' on the interactive TV and deciding certain tours weren't for us. The only issue could be in the Falklands as I understand there isn't as much flexibility to add a separate or additional tours due to limited resources on the Islands and initially we were wait-listed for the penguin tour. We never found out as Regent had made a decision to divert from them due to third party issues beyond their control and we had extra time in Montevideo instead. You'll love it!!! TedC Posted September 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2013 We did penguin tour on Falklands BUT there were large areas fenced off because of land mines from previous war. First time at Falklands we were unable to land because of big waves.
