lightsleeper Posted September 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2013 WE have a choice of staying at either the Renaissance on 17th Street or the Hyatt Pier 66. Have stayed at the Hyatt before but not at the Renaissance. (Stayed at the Renaissance in Plantation) Would like to hear about each, especially the Renaissance. royalcruz Posted September 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2013 The Renaissance is newer, built about 20 yrs ago, so it is more modern. It is a very nice hotel, but it is not a resort property like Hyatt. It is much closer to stores and restaurants.
cruzmax Posted September 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2013 We haven't stayed at Hyatt Pier 66, but have stayed at Renaissance - 17th St. several times and love the hotel and convenience to restaurants, etc. We enjoy the Bimini Boatyard area and there is an Einstein's Bagels within a couple blocks for a light breakfast pre-cruise, and Walgreen's for supplies. I'm always happy when I get the Renaissance on Priceline.
eandj Posted September 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2013 As Royal said. The Hyatt is more or less a resort type property. Varied room locations and pricing depending on views. Renaissance is more or less a business hotel (chain). Very nice hotel and definitely in walking distance to restaurants and stores for last min pick-ups. The two are different in atmosphere.
