Prepaid gratuities

I took 2 cruises on Carnival last year and I thought the prepaid gratuities were included in the price. I want to book for next summer and I checked on my price. When I was nearly through with the booking it asked me if I wanted to prepay the gratuities, so it added it to my total. Which of course increased my price. I don't remember being asked the last 2 times.

The tips have never been included. You can either pay them ahead, like you did, or pay them on the Sail&Sign card on board.

Whether you pay it now or not it will be automatically billed to your s&s card on the 2nd day

I opted for prepaid gratuities for my cruise next July. After I was done booking, I didn't notice the gratuities with the price. I emailed and had them added, because I want that part out of the way.

And credited, you don't pay them twice.

No its only charged once..so if u choose not to pay prior to cruising then its automatically billed the 2nd day

If I don't get them as a freebie when I book I ALWAYS pre-pay my gratuities. I like not seeing that total at the end of the cruise. With pre-paying them you can keep track of your spending easier.

It's not a freebie, it was rolled into your cruise cost to be paid off by final payment date. Carnival does the same for those that select their Travel Insurance too.

 

It's a convenient option, but either way you can roll them in and pay them with your cruise or wait and pay them on your S&S charges at the time of your cruise.
