fille_canadienne Posted September 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2013 We are going on a Mediterranean cruise with MSC in October. The cruise itself was booked through Travelocity and then I just added excursions on MSC's website - we prefer to go on excursions arranged by the cruise company. An hour ago I received an email from Travelocity saying "This notice is being sent to make you aware of a situation that may have an impact on your cruise vacation booked with us. On September 10th, we learned that Port Promotions, a merchant we have worked with in providing shore excursions to our cruise customers, ceased operations. Because of this, all shore excursions booked through Port Promotions have been cancelled and will not be fulfilled. If you are still interested in taking a shore excursion, you will need to make other arrangements. Please also note that all refunds for any cancelled shore excursions must be processed by Port Promotions. If you have not added any shore excursions to your cruise vacation, you do not need to take any further action." I contacted MSC, first they said that they didn't send anything and I need to contact Travelocity - I told them that our excursions were added on the official website, so they told me that they handle their shore excursions internally and anything booked through them won't be affected. Anyway, I am confused...thoughts anyone?

My guess is this was sent to ALL guests who booked through travelocity as a precaution. I would just confirm directly with MSC that your excursions are booked and you'll be fine. Port Promotions is not associated with MSC. They are an outside excursion company.

My excursions are booked with MSC, and their rep said that anything booked with them directly won't be affected - just the email itself was really confusing - I just wasn't sure if Port Promotions was the company MSC worked with...:) Thank you! I think it applied to those who booked additional excursions through Travelocity!
SteelCruisin Posted September 17, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2013 I've used Port Promotions in the past and was extremely satisfied, sad to see them go.
MotownVoice Posted September 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2013 It's just what happens if a Tour Company gets too many cancellations, or not enough bookings so they have to cancel a tour too often. It kills them if that goes on for weeks on end.
