We are on the Oct 28 sail - means Key West on Holloween which sound like a lot of fun...

Any info on Rm 9078?

Is there a formal night & if so which night?

Were doe it dock in KW? it was the naval pier with Carnival.

How does Cococay compare to Labadee?

Any suggestions / tips?

That sounds like a great time to be on the 4-night! My sister and I went last October and it just happened to be Fantasy Fest in Key West. It was a riot. Great for people watching.

For the 4-night I have to agree that formal night is Coco Cay. I remember that we had dinner in Nassau, but we still did formal night. Our cruise was at the beginning of Sandy so Coco Cay was canceled for us. It was a bummer, but we still had a great time on Majesty.

We also had an SOV room and we enjoyed it. I can't remember the #, but it was all the way aft. I liked being able to sit up in the window. Our steward was awesome.

The energy on the Majesty makes up for the lack of "bells and whistles." The ports are great. We went the Sheraton on Nassau and it is reasonably priced for a day pass. If you go, check out the Daq Shack across the street. You don't need an excursion in Key West. You easily check things out on your own. We went to Hemmingway's house which I enjoyed.

We had an awesome time and I'm sure you will, too.

I prefer CocoCay....less crowded...better sand and water....and hammocks....and Hobies! You can rent Hobies at CocoCay (unfortunately, not in Labadee).

Also, try the Compass Deli aboard...it's worth the search for it.

We also prefer Coco Cay to Labadee. We've had good experiences snorkelling at Coco Cay many times, but not so much at Labadee.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1816937 <---Here's our Roll Call, if you wanna join the rest of us getting ready for that sailing!

I'll also be on Majesty for the first time in late October! It'll be my dad's birthday, and my girlfriend's first cruise, so I'm really looking forward to it. My parents have sailed Majesty before, they say her crew is top notch and that the Schooner bar is spacious and a lot of fun. Definitely a different 'feel' of a ship than Explorer or Freedom, which I've been on before. Less family oriented, more singles, couples, Floridians on a quick getaway and groups of old friends having a good time. The shows and entertainment are a little cheesy and dated, says dad, but a good time.

Key West on Halloween was totally the selling point of this itinerary, for us! I have a friend from college who did an anthropology folklore project on ghost stories in Key West, and it sounds like the BEST of places to be in costume and looking out for a ghoulish time. I'm still trying to decide if we should book the ghost tour excursion, or just do a walking tour ourselves with a local ghost legends guidebook downloaded on my Kindle.

I heard the 9th floor's great! We're in an Oceanview on Deck 6, toward the bow of the ship.

I'm so happy I finally got 'Which Night is Formal' clarified for me in this thread! I figured it would be CocoCay because of the early sailaway time, which gives people time to get ready.

I've been to Coco Cay and to Labadee, and while Labadee's views are outrageously superb, I think I actually enjoyed Coco Cay more? They have a shallow sandbar you can wade out to and lie on, there's plenty of stuff to do, and the vendors weren't as pushy as I remember in Labadee.

What other tips have I got... I don't really know, but why don't you check in on the roll call and meet everybody that'll be on board with us?

Good choice going with the deck 9 SOV room. We're in the same catergory on that cruise.

When we were on her last August the formal night was day 2 in Nassau.

Majesty docks at the Westin Pier which is far more convenient than the Navy Mole Pier.

My mistake...formal night used to be the evening in Nassau but it was changed about two years ago to Coco Cay as others have stated. :o

The staterooms on Deck 9 may have a lifeboat obstructing the "superior oceanview", but they are bigger than the staterooms on the decks below them. There's a corner seat and a mini-fridge.

The Majesty will be within walking distance to Mallory Square (no shuttle needed).

Cococay is better than Labadee from my experience. Although you have to tender to shore, there's more beach available. There's a smaller straw market, and they're not pushy like Labadee. The BBQ lunch is the same.

Above the Windjammer, there Sorrento's Pizza, Johnny Rockets ($4.95 per person extra charge), and the Compass Deli.

We love Majesty, she is great for short getaways. Love CocoCay, moreso than Labadee. Just a gorgeous beach day. Any cabin on Deck 9 are fine. They say obstructed, but it is nothing. you have a window - you are not going to spend 10 hours looking out of it. We look out in the morning to see what the weather looks like!

You will have a safe and a mini-fridge. You can take the stuff out of the fridge and use it for yourself, I do it all the time. Just put the mini-fridge stuff on the top of the vanity.

Staff on Majesty are awesome. We have such a good time on her.

Enjoy!

Oh, no! We have a Dec 2014 cruise scheduled on the Majesty -- second cruise on her, and just loved our first one.

Do you think they'll maintain her OK up until she's sold/mothballed?
