Elation or Sunshine?

I am thinking of booking a cruise on either the Elation or Sunshine in Feb. I really need a vacation. My family is planning a big trip to Disney World next October but I can't wait to go on vacation. We will be taking our children with us, 4 years old and 7 months. I am leaning towards the Elation just because I think it might be easier to do a 5 day cruise with a baby but the Sunshine might be a whole better trip considering all the upgrades. Please any advice will be helpful:) Thanks

If you like balcony cabins you have to do Sunshine, Elation don't have them. I'm doing Sunshine in Dec because I want to see the new stuff. Did conquest after it got updated and enjoyed the new features like Guys Burger joint, punchliner comedy, etc. But if you're taking your kids you may or may not participate in some of the new night clubs and such, I guess depends on if you use camp carnival /sitting services. If you're budget minded Elation will cost less.

Hope that helps some.

This is incorrect, Elation does have balcony rooms. I was on one in March. They are not listed as balcony, rather as jr suites.

I absolutely LOVED the elation, great ship and the best staff I have ever sailed with. We are booked on the Sunshine in January because I want to try out a 7 day cruise and enjoy all the upgrades!

I am planning on taking my parents with us to help with the babysitting issue. We went on the Destiny and had a great time. I really don't want to pay the extra money to go on the Sunshine, its a 700 dollar difference in price. I've also always had balcony rooms and we would have to have a interior room if we went on the Sunshine. I don't want to take the baby to the MDR so I am kind of leaning toward the Sunshine so we have more options for food. I don't know if its worth it though....

Personally, I would take Sunshine over the Elation.

It sounds like you are leaning towards the Elation, and there is nothing wrong with that ship. Yes, she's a smaller ship with fewer amenities, but I wouldn't let that discourage me from going on another cruise on her if the price and itinerary suited what I needed. The most disappointing thing about the Elation when I cruised on her was that it was only a five-day cruise and it went by way too fast. If you're just looking for a quick get away cruise to tide you over until next October, then book the Elation.

It kind of depends on what you want.

I need five days, so Elation is the only choice.

Which kind of partially explains my five Elation cruises.

(I miss Triumph. Seriously.)

If Sunshine would do five days I would pay a bit more per day,

but not a whole lot more.

Like I would pay 20% more, but definitely not 50% more.

You pays your money and you takes your choice.

As you can see in my Signature. We have sailed the Elation several times.

Smaller ship, Great crew, easy to navigate around. She does have balcony cabins but only as a Suite and at approximately double the price.... NOT worth it TO ME. If that is your thing and thats what you want. Get one and enjoy it.

We are booked on the Sunshine in March and look forward to checking out the new amenities.

It all comes down to how much you want to spend, How long you wish to be gone, Which ports you want to visit and what ship amenities are important for your vacation dollar. We enjoy the bigger ships with longer trips and a Balcony now and then. We also enjoy the 5 day trips on smaller ships. Many times we end up on the smaller, shorter trips just due to timing issues and work getting in the way.

Which ever you decide. You will enjoy and not regret having spent time with your family and make memories for your children.;)
