Who's been to Trujillo, Peru?

I know there are several archeological sites... ChanChan and Temples Sun/Moon.. Is it necessary to book a tour guide ahead or can one reasonably find a transportation/day guide at the pier/or in town? Is the town pretty safe for 2 people to get into a taxi to go to the sites? Thanks!

Hi LuvsAcruise,

We stopped at Trujillo last autumn but had prebooked a private tour. The advantage being we knew exactly where we were going & how much it would cost.

If you don't speak Spanish, or even if you do, my recommendation would be to do the same.

Please e-mail me on luvtocruizdotcom if you would like more information.

We really enjoyed our day there :-)

We took a ship tour that included the archeological sites, walk around Trujillo and lunch at a hacienda with horse show, a wonderful day. Don't know if this is available on your ship. Would not do this on your own.
