trini_ras Posted September 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2013 I will be cruising in 5:D days thus in the process of finalizing my documents with Carnival when I discovered that Prepaid Gratuities were not included . I REALLY rather to prepay! Do I have any options? Or am I stuck with paying on-board

I REALLY rather to prepay! Do I have any options? Or am I stuck with paying on-board If you don't pre-pay when booking, the gratuities are automatically added to your S & S card. You can always go to Guest Relations to have them adjusted, if for some reason you feel you need to. Also can give extra to any staff member you feel goes above and beyond.:D

However, if you really want to prepay them you can call Carnival and have them added to your account. I have done this before. Just call with your booking number and tell the Carnival representative that you want to prepay your tips.
Lovefuninthesun Posted September 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2013 Somehow I missed paying mine, too when I booked. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can pay them now:) Sent from my iPhone 5 using Cruise Critic App

Just call with your booking number and tell the Carnival representative that you want to prepay your tips. We did this as well a few months back and let me tell you, it's great to know that's one less expense to think about with 21 days left before sailing. Have a great cruise! oncruisecontrol Posted September 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2013 If you pre-pay your tips, you need to make sure that every person on your booking number is pre-paying also. If not, your booking could look like it is not paid in full, and it may cancel. We pre-pay every sailing, and we pre-pay for everyone on our booking number at the same time to avoid any unpleasant complications.
redefinition Posted September 21, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Is there a benefit for prepaying?
RWolver672 Posted September 21, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2013 It's one less charge on your S&S account at the end of the cruise. We just consider it part of the cost of cruising so when we pay off the cruise, that's already taken care of.
cruise_crazy68 Posted September 21, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Also by prepaying .......all my OBC goes to drinks not gratuities!!! Prepaid all 3 of our B2B2B gratuities and have OBC for all 3!!!
Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 21, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Yea I just called and prepaid our gratuities. We sail in 19 days. They sent me a conformation email. I like to prepay so my s&s doesn't seem so high. Also I think it takes some pressure off the cabin stewards. They know you paid and I also give them cash on board. n6uqqq Posted September 21, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Is there a benefit for prepaying? The only real benefit goes to Carnival. They hold your money interest free ;). Same for cruise cash, bar etc.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 21, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Yea 200 bux for an xtra 2 weeks really costs me a lot in interest. I think I find more pennies on the ground in those 2 weeks that I would make in interest.

A two thousand dollar savings account will get you twenty cents a month interest. I think I can handle that loss.
sandyh85 Posted September 29, 2013 #20 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I called and my gratuities added. The rep says they are included under "taxes". Since it does not specifically say gratuities anywhere, should I print out my zero balance showing the increased taxes and fees? Just wondering if anyone's run into an accidental double charge by prepaying..... Sent from my HTC One using Forums mobile app
naz022292 Posted September 29, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 29, 2013 If you print your "boarding documents" - your prepaid tips are broken out so you won't have any problems.

I was a teensy bit worried. I keep confirmations of everything and that was all I could not get! fototaker Posted September 30, 2013 #23 Share Posted September 30, 2013 I just prepaid for my December cruise! I like to think I get better service by prepaying but according to most this merely a myth! However, my first cruise was awesome and the steward and wait staff ok. My second cruise was awesome, prepaid grats, the service was beyond exceptional and has been for the rest the cruise that I have prepaid! :D
Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 30, 2013 #24 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Yea I agree I think prepaying the tips insures better service because they know they are getting the base plus probably extra in cash.
