rkacruiser Posted September 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Cellar Master Tony aboard the Eurodam was the most personable and unpretentious HAL employee that I have found in that position. He is knowledgable about wine and does an excellent job in leading the wine tastings that I attended. He makes the wine tastings interesting and fun. And, he follows up in the Pinnacle Grill and the main dining room with those who attend his programs to make sure that their wine service is to their satisfaction. When I filled out the on-line end of cruise survey, I regret that I forgot to mention him as worthy of recognition. I hope whoever monitors the CC HAL Board for Holland America will make note of my satisfaction with his service. While HAL's wine program still has a way to go to match my experience with Celebrity's wine program on Eclipse, hiring this type of a person in the Cellar Master's position is clearly a step in the right direction. Rare kazu Posted September 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2013 We also found Andre on the Prinsendam excellent. A good cellar master really makes a difference on a cruise for sure:D

Why not send a letter to HAL in Seattle (I mean a snail-mail) to let them know directly how happy you were with his service. Something concrete, like a letter, would be welcome in Seattle, and could even end up in his employment file. It will only take you a couple of minutes. SeaWatch Posted September 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Did you try the house wines?
rkacruiser Posted September 20, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Did you try the house wines? Yes, and I found some of them to be drinkable. I purchased the Navigator's Wine Package(2X) and enjoyed the wines that we had from that package. We did not try all of them. The ship ran out of the Nabilo Sauvignon Blanc (my wine steward said that it was very popular on the Viking Passage cruise). A Mondavi Sauvigon Blanc was substituted and it was good. My favorite Sauvignon Blanc is Villa Maria. It was available at $41.00/bottle. I pay $12.99 at my favorite wine store in Centerville.

More folks would find that regular post for sending praise and commendation is a quite efficient 'miracle-worker'. You will usually receive an appreciative comment in return. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2013 JMO -- but I would write HAL personally about your wonderful Cellar Master. That is way better than an e-mail. On our last cruise we were very happy with the Admiral's Package.

Isn't it the same grape as Cloudy Bay? Thanks for the nice comments about your Cellar Master. Always good to hear when a guest is so happy with the work of one of the crew. They try so hard to please.
SeaBands Posted September 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2013 are produced in the same area but I think CB is much better and it's double the price here in Fl.
