How far in advance to book b2b to ensure same room?

We want to do a b2b in May 2015 for my birthday on either the Allure or the Oasis. We definitely want the same room on the same ship for both weeks. We won't know until October 2014 if we will actually get the time off work for the specific cruise weeks that we want.

Is it better to book now/soon to get the same room for both weeks (and then we can always cancel if we don't get the time off work)? Or is it safe to wait until October 2014 to book? I'm just worried that if we wait until October 2014, it might be difficult to get not only the room type we want, but the same room for both weeks of the b2b.

As long as you can cancel for a full refund, I don't see any reason to wait. Book now to get the best choice of staterooms.

If we are doing a B2B we book as soon as the itins come out. You can always cancel if you have too. I would get them booked now so you can be assured you have the same cabin for both weeks. the longer you wait, the less likely you will get the same cabin.

We are on a B2B in January and have to switch cabins. I am hopeful we'll fix the situation before we sail. Different cabin categories for each sailing due to kids sailing with us in the first sailing and not the 2nd. Hoping we see a price drop in the suites so we can make it happen.

Ditto! Never wait to book if you are over 8 months out. Once you start the count down the prices may rise and fall within the same week. After final payment you may find a really good deal on one cruise but usually not the same cabin on a B2B. 8 months is just a general time. The price roller coaster begins at different times for different ships/itineraries. Enjoy! Book now! :)

Have done a few B2B (on other lines).

We have usually booked late and could not get same cabins. In at least two cases, when we got closer, we were able to get what we needed. Reservations move around and around.

(moving was no big deal on the last one where we could not get same cabin)

It's never too early to book a cruise if there's a certain cabin/cabins you need..Remember RCI has a waitlist also you can request to be put on for a specific cabin..but that's taking a chance...Best of luck and enjoy.

Another vote for booking now. We have booked several B2B's and try to book as early as possible to get the same cabin and usually we have a particular cabin/location that we want. Early is always better. Then we keep our eyes open for price drops! ;) Sometimes the prices have gone up and then I pat myself on the back for booking early and locking in that rate!

As long as it's before final payment you can always cancel and get your deposit back if you change your mind. Good luck!
