mnjennfl Posted September 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Looking to book either Carnival Freedom or Princess Ruby for my 20th anniversary with my husband. Which ship is better. We want to relax, have nice accommodations, have stuff to do but don't want to eat next with other people. I am going into analysis paralysis comparing pros and cons of these options. I have cruised Carnival Paradise before but not Princess. My husband has not cruised.

CarnivalBreeze319 Posted September 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2013 The op was asking about ships not dates. If the OP was looking for after May 2014, I was going to suggest the Carnival Freedom since she would have just received a MAJOR dry dock and be like a brand new ship
Robkatcruisers Posted September 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Looking to book either Carnival Freedom or Princess Ruby for my 20th anniversary with my husband. Which ship is better. We want to relax, have nice accommodations, have stuff to do but don't want to eat next with other people. I am going into analysis paralysis comparing pros and cons of these options. I have cruised Carnival Paradise before but not Princess. My husband has not cruised. I have never sailed Princess line so I cannot comment on that ship. I have however sailed on the Carnival Freedom. It has (and you can find this on any online search) a strange décor. It is different than any of the other Carnival ships. Another poster here said that after a certain date next year it will have gone through dry dock and may be different. I was not overly impressed and thought it somewhat ugly. Currently I have only my first cruise on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas to compare it with and the Mariner was beautiful. Its great to be on a cruise of any sort for me but if I had to say it was not my favorite at all. I will be on the Dream this November and cannot wait to see something different. My husband and I joke about the Freedom's atrium where we call the lights all around the elevators and whatnot pimple lights. The main dining room we had, had gold peaches around the seating areas and ceilings while the walls and around the circular waiter stands red and black snakeskin wall paper...to me I wondered if Elvis had something to do with the décor...LOL They do say the Freedom's decorator was someone they hadn't used before and was a little off the beaten path. My suggestion would be Ruby Princess because of the occasion.
Dare2Believe Posted September 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2013 We just cruised the Freedom in July and loved every second! True, you may be close to people in the MDR, but not all tables are like that. We had no issue. If you're concerned..maybe request a 4 top, even though you're only 2 people...I'm not sure if they will do it, but doesn't hurt to ask!
Georgiagolfer Posted September 23, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2013 No guarantee you will get it, but you can always request a tale for 2. DW and I have been pretty successful with getting this lately.
