Cruise tour price drops?

We're in the beginning stages of planning an Aisa cruise for 2015. It's to celebrate my wife's parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Asia is a dream trip for them.

We would like to visit other major sites in China either before or after the cruise and are considering Celebrity's cruisetour package. Normally we book these extra days on our own, but because of the age of her parents we're going to arrange for someone, either Celebrity or a travel agency, to plan the land tour portion to minimize any problems.

Which brings up my question. We have been successful in watching price drops for our past cruises and have saved quite a bit of money doing so. Do the land tour portions experience price drops as well? Or might that happen only on the cruise portion?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've done a couple of landtours with the cruiseline(not a big fan but in some countries it's just easier) and I too watch for the pricing to drop but have never had the landtour pricing change.

Second that. 99% of the time do our own tour arrangements but now and then....

I have NEVER seen a ship tour's price drop....

I've actually seen complaints from cruisers on CC that they were unable to participate in cabin price drops because they had booked a cruise tour.

That's correct, the reduction in price on the cruise alone has no bearing on the cost of the total package. If you cancel the land portion but want to keep the cruise I also understand that you will pay the prevailing rate if the cruise.

Celebrity used to give an onboard credit through a open passages or ship board booking based on the entire length of the trip. Now it is based on the cruise portion only.
