Boarding with Scooter

I have a Pride Go Go Elite Traveler Plus (3-wheel Model) Mobility Scooter. If anyone here has the same scooter, and has boarded the Carnival Pride in Baltimore, can you tell me if it was safe to drive the scooter up the gangway? It looks a little steep to me. I'm a good operator of my scooter, and have had occasion to go up inclines before in other indoor venues, but they don't appear to look as steep and the gangway in Baltimore. Do you think I'll need to exit the scooter, and walk up with a cane, and have my husband push the scooter? I think I may have asked this before, but I can't find my original post. Thank you for any info you can provide. :)

My apologies to all who read my question above. I found my original post from earlier this year, and I thank everyone for their responses. It sounds like if I'm fully charged, I won't encounter any problems with boarding. We had to cancel our cruise in early 2013, so now we planned one for Feb. 2014 and it's the first time I'll use the scooter on a cruise. Anyway, thanks again and if anyone has any other tips for scooter use on the Pride, please feel free to send them my way.

When u board go to dining room & see where u are seated...u may need to change ur table if u want to ride scooter to it...my husband uses a power chair, which is some larger & can't always get in where they have us seated...i assume u have an accessible room...u can't leave a scooter in the hall & it must be able to get thru the door of the room...my husband goes all over the ship in his chair...have fun.

If the incline proves to be too steep , the Pride Go Go is designed with an automatic motor cut off that could engage. If for some reason the scooter suddenly shuts down that's what probably happened. There is a little semi clear bubble next to where the charger plugs into the battery pack which is a reset button. Press that and wait a few minutes if the motor was not damage the scooter should start up again.

And "if" you feel the ramp is too steep for your scooter to make it up you can always request assistance. An attendant could roll your scooter up the ramp while you and taken up via wheel chair. I've cruise the Pride 2x and was able to get my Travelscoot up the ramp and they are noted to not do steep well. I just had to make sure there was a clear path in front of me so I could "gun the motor" and get a running start LOL.

I did like how the Enchantment allowed scooter riders to board at ground level where they were loading the luggage on board. I hope RCI is still doing that in Baltimore with the Grandeur.

Never go up that steep ramp in rabbit mode, only turtle. The motor tends to cut off on steeper inclines when you're in rabbit. I have the Go Go Elite Traveler and have had issues on some steep gangways, but it was always better if I went slowly and in turtle.

Thanks again everyone for the helpful information. I guess if worse comes to worse, I can walk up slowly with my cane and DH can push the scooter. I'm also going to try and walk to the dining room for meals, and just use my scooter when getting around on the ship after dinner and during the day. We're situated close to the Aft elevators which is where we were in 2010 on the same ship, and DH will request a table close to the MDR entrance and hopefully I won't need to walk to far to the table.

My experience has been that on most ships two crew members will assist scooters going up and down ramps whether you need it or not. They want to control speed and stability and will push or boost over apex if needed. Safety is the main concern. I have not yet experienced the Baltimore terminal.

Thanks so much for the info. When we were on the Pride in 2010, and I was only using a rollator to walk, a crewmember ran over with a wheelchair and insisted that my husband take the rollator, then the crewmember took me on the wheelchair and my husband with my rollator to another area to board at ground level, and we all took the elevator up to the Lido deck. I thought that was so nice of the crewmember. The boarding has changed since then, so I'm glad to hear that crewmembers do help on some of the ship ramps. Thanks again.
