Hotel in Ft Lauderdale

We like either the Hyatt House or Hyatt Place Ft Lauderdale Airport and Cruiseport. They are side by side and there are restaurants within walking distance. Both offer complimentary breakfast. Hyatt House is very nice if you are traveling with family...they have a "trio" room that we get. It is a living room/kitchen with a pull out sofa and on one side is a room with a king bed and bathroom and the other side is a room with 2 queens and a bathroom. Perfect for families prior to or following a cruise.

My wife and I have been staying at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Boulevard for the past 20-plus years. The rates are reasonable and the pool is a delight. We also like all of the dining and shopping options nearby. All in all, you will not be disappointed. Inside tip: request a room in the original wing of the hotel. A new tower addition was added a few years ago and while nice we prefer the elegance of the original accommodations. Just saying.

If I did not find a place on the beach, I agree the Riverside looks pretty cool! We walked around the hotel and had a great dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

I am pretty much happy at any hotel that is in a "safe location" and is clean and doesn't require me to cook or clean. Before I retired I spent a lot of time at 4* and 5* resorts as part of my job, so I've been there, done that. My DH, however, likes staying in FLL at the Embassy Suites because he likes the pre-cruise "atmosphere" there. Most guests are in a jolly mood because they are anxious for their cruise to begin. It's a fun people watching place.
