bethd Posted September 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Will be sailing on Celebrity in December 2013 and have 2 cabins booked, one for my husband and I and the other for my son and his friend (both under 21). I now see that Celebrity is offering a Military Discount on certain cabin types for our cruise. My husband has served in the Marines so I know that our cabin qualifies for the discount. My question is, does our other cabin with the 2 boys also qualify? Waiting for my Travel Agent to return my call but thought in the meantime, I would come to CC for the quicker response. Thanks for your help Beth
subtchr Posted September 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2013 We have used a military discount before, as my husband is retired AF. You say your husband "served" - I am quite sure that the discount is only available for those who are active duty or retired. And I also think the discount is only available for cabins with an eligible occupant. I'd be interested to hear what your TA has to say.

Discount is also available to those who served in a combat zone for a minimum of six months or who had two years of service during a war period. Number of cruises however where the discount can be use is extremely limited
micmacmissy Posted September 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2013 I think both cabins are eligible, since the second cabin are your dependents. Call Celebrity directly!
wvufan Posted September 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Redman is correct. If you see a military discount, act immediately as the offer may only be there for a short time. I don't see why the second cabin would be eligible. The discount is to reward those who have served our country. Thanks to your husband for his service. Andy Posted September 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2013 I think both cabins are eligible, since the second cabin are your dependents. Call Celebrity directly! My understanding is, the discount is only applicable for the eligible person's cabin. Hope this helps !
BBsails Posted September 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2013 This information is from another website, not Celebrity: Celebrity offers military discounts on select sailings to active or reserve personnel currently serving in the Canadian Forces, United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or National Guard, and retired personnel from any of these divisions. "Retired" is defined as A) enlisted personnel or officers with a minimum of 20 years of service, B) medically retired, or C) 100% disabled. Veterans with an honorable discharge serving a minimum of 2 years, or 6-months in an active war zone, in any of the United States service divisions listed above are also eligible. Finally, spouses of actively deployed or deceased military personnel are eligible to book one stateroom at the military rate. The spouse of the military member must be booked in the stateroom and others in the same stateroom will also be allowed to cruise at the military rate. Qualifying guests must present the proper military ID and a driver's license or passport at the time of booking. If your husband is qualified he needs to take a copy of his DD214 to the ship. We have never been asked to show it, but we always take it.
bethd Posted September 26, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Thank you everyone. I gave Celebrity a call directly and got the same info, only the cabin my husband is booked in is eligible for the discount. Of course 5 minutes later my TA called back with the same info. If you sail on Princess or Cunard and meet these requirements-and fax or mail the one page request and a copy of your DD214 you will receive $100 OBC. This award is OVER and ABOVE any other OBC you may be receiving. You only apply once and it will be attached to your number for your current cruise and all future cruises. Princess and Cunard share this info. Just returned from the QM2 and was awarded $100--2 yrs ago the same with the Caribbean Princess. The CEO/President of Princess is a VietNam Veteran. Letters or emails need to be sent to Celebrity to get their attention.
