BOAZ5 Posted September 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Wondering about local restaurants and cuisine while we are in St. Thomas. Would love to here about the places you like/dislike and why. Thanks!
Harriet682 Posted October 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Gladys' which is in town serves local food. She has been written up in the NY Times. It is very popular for breakfast and lunch. Rancho Latino (near the West Indian Cruise Ship Dock) serves great Puerto Rican food. Hope this helps.
Harriet682 Posted October 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2013 After rereading my last post, I assumed you were asking for a place for lunch in St. Thomas. However, this morning I'm wondering if you will be staying for a few days. If that is the case, (for dinner) I recommend Havana Blue at Morning Star (Marriott) for Cuban-Asian cuisine, Vergillios for Northern Italian, Craig and Sally's in Frenchtown (the menu changes daily) and Room with a View at Bluebeard's Castle. All of these restaurants are pricey but great. Our very favorites are Havana Blue and Vergillios.
sail7seas Posted October 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Glady's is fun. She is a real character and has very loyal following of locals as well as repeat tourists. Lunch is casual and nothing fancy but decent food and convenient to shopping in downtown Charlotte Amalie/Main Street.

For those who may be new to St. Thomas, West Indian Cruise Ship Dock is Havensight. :)
O2B@Cagain Posted October 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2013 If it is lunch in town, Cuzzin's (conch in butter sauce, yum!) Harriet: Craig and Sally are gone. :(

Ms411 Posted October 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2013 Across the street from Havensight is Sheryl's Diamond Delight which serves local food. Best to go at lunchtime.
blue_water Posted October 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2013 I assume you are looking for a lunch while on a cruise stop? For a great picnic lunch for the beach it's Gourmet Gallery right at the docks. For lunch in town Gladys, Cuzzins, are the most touted and your best choices, we like the Greenhouse for the atmosphere and margaritas with lunch, or Coconuts for the best burger and their Backstreet Bushwacker. And since you are there in June a lunch at Paradise Point overlooking the harbor is hard to beat. Just typical island cuisine but the view is fantastic. The aerial tram is scheduled to reopen around Oct 27 long with PP which is under new management, and that's a great spot to end your day. Also home of the Bailey's Bushwacker. O2B@Cagain Posted October 18, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 18, 2013 "Gade" is a Danish word for street. I don't understand your question skiiergirl. The Greenhouse and Greengos don't serve local food. I think the OP asked about local restaurants and cuisine.;)

I don't understand your question skiiergirl. The Greenhouse and Greengos don't serve local food. I think the OP asked about local restaurants and cuisine.;) Thanks so much for your reply. lol....Sorry about that. I know Greenhouse and Greengos don't serve local food. I had never heard of Greengos and am interested in it as we love mexican. I just asked about it on here (the "local food" thread) rather than starting another thread. I figured if anyone had any info on local food they also might have it on Greengos so no need to start another thread just for that. Just curious if anyone has any experiences with Greengos. I also know "gade" is the Danish word for street. Sorry my question is confusing. I will try again.....If we are on Main Street shopping which shop(s) on Main Street are near Dronegans Gade (street/alley). Trying to figure out which "alley" Greengos is down. I know Main Street pretty well but not the "gades" so just trying to figure out about where on Main Street the entrance to Dronegans' gade is. Hope this question is a little clearer. Thanks. O2B@Cagain Posted October 18, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 18, 2013 Okay, now I get it. I believe Greengos is in Hibiscus Alley. Droningens Gade IS Main Street. Hibiscus is one of the smaller alley ways that used to be how they moved material from the waterfront to the storehouses on Main Street. :)
Ms411 Posted October 19, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 19, 2013 Gringo's is in Hibiscus Alley across from the Belgian Chocolate Factory closer to waterfront than Main St.
