can you bring this on board?

Hoping I can get some feedback before this gets moved to the Ports of Call board (where I already posted, and no one answered.)

Do you think this would be allowed on Labadee? http://www.beachmall.com/product/WTW201C/Beach-Cabanas-Mega-Size-Beach-Shelter-with-Privacy-Feature.html

I'm concerned about not getting a clamshell before they're all gone (as was the case my last time in Labadee.) Not interested in renting a cabana as we love to be front row on the water at Columbus Columbus cove.

So what do you think? Ingenious or obnoxious?

I'm betting that RCCL doesn't want their guests camping out on the private islands. If you want a cabana they will be happy to sell you one but, save the tent for your next trip to Yosemite.

Doubt it.

Years ago when we went to Ocean City Maryland, we used to take a

TENT-A-HUT. It was similar to what you found.

It was awkward to pack, and not worth it.

You will not need it, there are enough loungers and chairs and shaded areas for you to relax.

Save your money.

Save your space on board.

Sail with out it.

Hi Mom.to.2, Actually, I doubt if the cruise line would have a problem with it. I saw a few of these when we were up at the lake, (Fairport Harbor, on Lake Erie) just a few weeks ago, and they did not seem intrusive at all. They don't seem as big in person, as that photo appears, being just below shoulder height. They seemed to be popular amongst the folks who had a baby with them.

Just be sure to go a ways farther down the beach so that you're not setting it up right in front of someone else's view.

That being said, it does seem like a lot of bother to be buying and packing that somewhat large item, then shlepping it down the pier and down the beach, just to save the cost of a clam shell. They really do have lots of clam shells, and you can usually book one pre-cruise, so no real worry that they'll run out.

Can you truly pre-book clam shells? How? Would LOVE that alternative.

The last time we were at Labadee, there were no clamshells left by the time we got to Columbus Cove. This was with us hurrying off the ship as soon as the captain gave the all clear. Silly us, we listed to the warnings not to congregate on stairs/lower levels and were therefore in the middle of the pack.

We weren't crazy about the clam shells. They are small and hot, and blocked the breeze. Under a shady tree, on a hammock, or better yet, a cabana on Labadee, is our choice there. I don't think anyone would stop you from setting up your tent-thingy, but I agree that it would be a hassle to pack and carry.

Due to medications we needed to find a place in the shade last time we went to Labadee. We walked towards the beach straight across from the pier and the first person to come up to us and offer assistance, we explained our needs and he found us a spot that would have all day shade, still on the beach. We had the view, breeze, and shade all day. We simply tipped him and thanked him. The people there are very knowledgeable about the different areas of the beach, let them help you. Don't forget the Labadoozi to go at the end of the day, when you are cleaning up to head back to the ship. We got them for 1/2 price, they don't advertise, but make an offer.

We bought one similar to this for a trip to Florida. What most don't realize, is that, packed, it is only 24 inches long and weighs 5 lbs. It easily fits in a suitcase and sets up and breaks down quick and easy.

and no, I don't think it's obnoxious.
