Carnival Fantasy Bahamas in February

I'm really concerned. I have booked and paid for me and my daughter to go on a cruise in February during her Winter Break. Now people are telling me that it's too cold in the Bahamas this time of year to swim. Is this true? Do the boats even have the pools open? The pool is one of the major things I knew she would enjoy on our vacation & I wanted to take her to the dolphin encounter in the Bahamas, once again in the water! Anyone been to the Bahamas in February? I need some advice?:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Ah, that link is really great thanks. That doesn't seem too cold. Sounds about how GA is right now so I can work with that. If my daughter doesnt like it she can pool hop to the hot tub then back and forth! That's definitely not too cold for the dolphin encounter

February is the nicest time to cruise the Bahamas and the Caribbean because the weather is comfortable. Typically about 78 degrees in Nassau, Bahamas during this time period, much nicer than the high 90's during the summer.

Have a great cruise and don't worry you and your daughter will have a blast.

The water temperatures will probably be in the 70's. On Long Island, NY, and the Jersey Shore that temp. is considered HOT! Once you're in the water its fine.

The Fantasy only has one pool. Ships fill their pools everyday with ocean water. One of the two hot tubs by the pool are adults only. On the Serenity deck (adults only & no smoking) there are two old hot tubs but that deck is a ways from the pool.

We have been on the Fantasy in early, mid & late February and the weather has been fine.

Are you going to Atlantis or Blue Lagoon Island to SWIM with the dolphins in Nassau? I don't think the dolphin encounter is worth it! You stand on a platform about waist deep. THE dolphin swims by you so you can pet her/him, they squirt you and do some flips, etc. We watched this but really enjoyed watching the swim with the dolphins and one lady doing that.

Make sure you join your Roll Call here on cruise critic and get to know others who will be on your cruise!

If the water is a bit cool, the Encounter will have a thin wet suit that your daughter could wear.

Have fun.

I haven't booked the encounter yet but was planning on booking the blue lagoon! I assumed it wouldn't be worth it for me but for my 6 year old daughter it will be priceless! She's always begged to do this and had this fascination with dolphins and unicorns of course!!

Check the height requirement before booking. Our grandson's OTHER grandmother took him to Atlantis just to swim with the dolphins. He was 6. But he wasn't tall enough to go down the water slides! But, he could and did swim with the dolphins! I have some great pictures of him doing this, feeding the dolphin!

Omgoodness! Didn't think of that! I better look bc we are short! The one I was looking at was they take you on a boat to a lagoon then you can pet, kiss, and get pictures with the dolphins like $150 a person. That's the only one encounter with dolphins that she met the age requirement!!

Hear you BUT the air temps and water temps are very different.

:( Sadly, the water really is cold in February!

CaveCrising (Scott & Karen) .... GREAT suggestion for a thin wet suit! :D

Check out actually swimming with the dolphin or dolphin encounter at Atlantis. When my 5 year old grandson did this he was given a wet suit to wear. He stood in armpit depth water and tossed fish in the air to feed the dolphin and also kissed the dolphin. Maybe this was Atlantis's encounter.

The one I posted earlier was the dolphin encounter in Cozumel.
