Santorini Speedboat Tickets to Oia-Book now or buy at port?

We'll be in Santorini in November.

Should we purchase the speedboat tickets to Oia ahead of time or should we buy them at the port? Will the tickets be sold out if we wait?

The boats did not seem to be even close to sold out when we were there a week ago. They were running them continuously from two locations. These weren't speedboats though; they were more like tenders or double decker tourist boats, and they left from nearby where the tenders from the ship docked. The ride took 15-20 minutes, and was very scenic. We did not buy in advance because we wanted to be flexible and not worry about which ship tender we were able to get on. We were able to get on one within a few minutes of our tender docking.

I agree, we just got back from The Ruby and it was very easy to walk off the tender and get tickets a short walk away. It was a great day!!

Agree with others, buy when you get there, very easy.

We were there at the beginning of August and there was no need to buy ahead of time. I would definitely wait.

Wait. It is good to have flexibility. Turned out the wait for next boat was longer than the wait for the cable car so we took the cable car and a taxi. It's a great port. Have a wonderful time.

We've started booking various excursions, but I must say for some reason am finding Santorini a bit overwhelming. Horror stories of cable cars, donkeys, etc. etc.

 

So, if I read this correctly, we can tender over to the Island, buy a ticket for some kind of boat (speed or tender type), "cruise" to Oia, spend a few hours there, "cruise" back to the bottom of the hill, then tender back to the ship. Is this accurate? We really only want to see Oia for a few hours.

 

How much are the boat tickets to get to Oia (return)?

Don't think you can cruise back in the boat, I believe you get a bus ticket included from Oia back to Fira, then you've still got to get the cable car down or walk or ride a donkey.

I understand that now you have to take the boat both ways. The company is no longer allowed to drop you off, and you find your own way back. Anyone else heard this?

We got the bus back to Fira last week.

Do you mean you got the small boat around the island to Amoudi Bay, then you were bussed up to Oia? From there did you take a bus to Fira, and the cable down to the ship?

Enjoy, just a couple of things to bear in mind, it is a short, steep walk from the boat to the bus and then again in Fira from the bus to the main shopping area.

We had to pay for our cable car tickets this time when I'd thought they had been included in August (but I may be wrong !).

We were told that there were no boats back the day we were in port. The sea was very rough so that may have been why. It was a beautiful taxi ride between Oia and Fira. Hope you have a wonderful time!
