CarnieAddict Posted October 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Has anyone had trouble getting money back from Carnival? To make a long story short we called 3 or 4 times telling them our cruise price went down. It wasn't till our last phone call we got someone that would actually listen to us. There was a difference of 211 dollars but she got us a better price then we anticipated. Its been 8 buisness days and we are scared to call cause we figure we will be given a hard time. Any suggestions?
golfb4cruzing Posted October 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2013 It takes them awhile but it happens. Give them 2 weeks and follow up.

Any suggestions? What type of fare did you book under? If you tell us what type of fare you booked, the length of your cruise, and sail date, we might be able to better offer suggestions based on fare type. If you booked early saver, did you fill out the online form requesting the price drop? As you can see from this, each type of fare has it's own rules that you will need to consider before making a decision. http://www.carnival.com/legal/specials-terms-conditions.aspx
CarnieAddict Posted October 1, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted October 1, 2013 She booked us under the early saver this time. It worked out that we are supposed to get around 585 back.

So if I am understanding you correctly, you were previously booked under a different fare type, and now, in order to get the price drop, you had to cancel and rebook under the early saver rate? And the rebooking resulted in a $585 refund? Is that correct?
CarnieAddict Posted October 1, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Yeah. We booked it last Feb. Then when we talked to them the last time she rebooked us under the early saver.
crdtrnr Posted October 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2013 This should have resulted in a fare decrease. Since you are 136 days out from cruise, you are not in final payment phase. Unless you paid for your cruise in full at booking time, you are not due a cash refund...just your final payment amount is reduced. If you access your cruise under management my cruise, you should be able to see the fare information, and the final amount due.
CarnieAddict Posted October 1, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Its already paid in full. I clicked the wrong button when I was booking it and accidently paid in full.

Any suggestions? Why should you be scared to ask for something that belongs to you? Call them, that's what they are being paid for. Being scared immobilizes you. Keep at them. I had a recent experience with Home Depot and a rebate for paint. I did all the paper work and yet was denied for some obscure reason. They owed me $120 in the rebate. I hightailed it down to the store and demanded it right then and there and I wasn't leaving until I had it in my hot little hand. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. :D
fuddrules Posted October 1, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2013 If you booked ES, submit the ES price protection form. http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/requestforms/cclearlysaverform.aspx
CarnieAddict Posted October 1, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted October 1, 2013 I just got off the phone with them. They said the person I was talking to missinformed us with the wrong info. They are giving us the money back but it is going as an onboard credit. Which is fine.

If you don't need that much in OBC, all you have to do is add the excess to your S&S card casino balance, then cash it out in the casino. You don't have to gamble with it if you don't want to...just add it on and cash it out.
CoconutJD Posted October 1, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Some of it will depend on your bank too. Carnival initiates the refund, but sometimes credit card companies or banks can take a while for the credit to actually show up in your account. I'd give it two weeks, then start calling again.
