HawaiiRN Posted October 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2013 We will be arriving in NYC on Saturday 19 October on the Caribbean Princess and docking in Red Hook. Our flight home via JetBlue departs from JFK but not till 1:59PM so we have plenty of time and I am in a quandary as to transport to the airport. We have never been to NYC except to change planes. 1. Are there taxis available at the dock-what would be considered a reasonable charge for 2 adults 3 pieces of luggage? 2. Would a car service be better? We are already planning on using Dial7 to the ship-do they have a round trip charge? Anyone know what it is? If using the car service where do you go for pickup? What time do you tell them for pickup? Mahalo in advance for your help.

smeyer418 Posted October 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2013 google "JFK ground transportation to Manhattan". THere are many, many options and include transport options from JFK to all surrounding areas, not just Manhattan. Red Hook is in Brooklyn. Taxis at Red Hook are hit and miss. Since Brooklyn is in one of the outer boros, yellow taxis are not plentiful. The limos/black cars/ car service the pier hirers for your use will charge about twice what a privately hired car service will charge. Depending on how the taxi goes the fare can be between $45-70(it will be meter plus tip-the only set fare for NY Yellow taxis is between Manhattan and JFK). a car service you hire will charge between $40-70 for the same ride. I use a local(to the pier) service. Arecibo. It will charge about $40-50 for the same ride. They will tell you to call when you are ready and be there in 5-10 minutes. 7187836465. when you exit the cruise terminal after passing through customs there is a car service pick up area to your left. Its clearly marked. If you use a porter to help you with the luggage they will know where this is, although they might try to steer you to the pier hired car services. If you don't have a cell phone to call there are a few pay phones after leaving customs.
